Actually, they are not. These systems are obvious hoaxes. Like a lot of other frauds, they are just perpetual motion machines in a new box.

But hey, the old Datsuns weighed less ten years later than they did when they were new. Hey, atleast they lost weight faster than most Americans right now. Why? Cause of all the rust problems they had. It was ridiculous. I’m surprised how many Z cars are still out there today.

However, someone bought it from me about six years later, and that guy is restoring it. He’s doing a much better job than I was doing, since he has a bit more time in the day to work on it. The thing looks great so far. I asked him what he had to do to get it running again, and he told me that he replaced the wiring harness and the voltage regulator, and then he gave it some good gas, and it fired right up. Not too bad, if you ask me.

Those old Datsuns were solid. For that matter, any of those old cars were solid. I love old cars. Everything went to $#¡† during the ’80s.

But I know what you’re talking about when it comes to repairs. After all, I restored that Z, and it was a pain in the @$$. I do my own maintenance on my Nissan minivan, and it’s a pain in the @$$. They have covers on everything, and reaching into the tight spots and getting enough leverage is a pain in the @$$. It’s not like an old Chevy truck where you can practically crawl into the engine compartment right next to the engine. But anymore, lots of cars have little room to play. The pulley system on a Nissan is a royal pain in the @$$. On a Ford or a Chevy, you just get a wrench for the tensioner, put it on and pull it back. Not on a Nissan. You have to loosen the tensioner with a wrench, and then you have to move it by turning a certain bolt that lifts it up. It takes an hour to remove a belt.

Stop defending a giant foreign global corporation as if it was your family business!

I wish all these future technology developers (hydrogen, fuel cell, etc..) would just take a step back for a moment, and give up something simple instead of going with ridiculously complex crap.

There are actually some pretty neat hydrogen systems out there atm, that inject about 10% hydrogen into your fuel system. It uses power generated from the alternator to turn water into hydrogen in the back of the vehicle, in a relatively small system. Since your alternators already generating plenty of extra power, it doesn’t sap fuel economy from the petrol/diesel engine that much, so you end up with something simple that aids fuel economy around 10-20%. Go look back at the Ronn Motors article, I had a link or two there about that sorta stuff. It’s not science fiction, it’s just this ridiculous, complicated crap simplified as far as possible so it can be used TODAY.

That mean you are not good enough to be a mechanic.

You CAN polish a Datsun, but it still looks like a Datsun, only now it’s shiny.
