Nissan’s marketing chief resigns

09/27/2007, 7:06 AM

By Drew Johnson

Jan Thompson has announced that she will step down as Nissan and Infiniti’s advertising and marketing chief. Neither Thompson nor Nissan gave a reason for the departure. Thompson will be replaced — effective October 8 — by Ben Poore, a group marketing manager for Ford’s Lincoln and Mercury brands. Thompson had been with Nissan for three years.

According to Automotive News, Thompson was responsible for landing the Nissan Rouge as the official car of the NBC TV show “Heroes.” Most recently, Thompson had been unveiling the all-new Infiniti EX35 at invitation-only events.

She did very good job for Nissan. Not everyone who is not into country music is inclined to spend life in Nashville.

I agree with you AgmLauncher—neither Lincoln nor Mercury has exactly been setting the world on fire lately. I wonder what made the guys at Nissan think he’d do a good job for them?
