A single spy photo has surfaced online of the 2007 BMW X5, sans disguise. Fitted with a Rhode Island license plate, the truck was in Austria for a U.S. photo shoot. The image first turned up at the X5world chat forums. Full image after the jump…

The old one is way better cuz it doesn’t have all those sticks coming out of it! How are you supposed to park with that stuff?

You’re an idiot! Those are camera mounts.
Back to the story… not too different than the current generation. Hope the driving dynamics are preserved.

Looks a lot like the previous gen X5. Which is good.
The X5 is still the best looking SUV out there. I’m sure it will reign supreme once again.

This will be lotrot once the new Lambdas come to market. They won’t be able to give this piles of crap away once everyone checks out their local Buick, GMC or Saturn dealerships and drives one the new extrordinary Enclave, Acadia or Outlook.
Y’all got to get off this German crap. Buy GM folks (if you want a real car)

This SUV doesn’t look too different from the outgoing model. It has a more X3 look about it I think….Its not too bad, but not different enough for me to care about this.

Seems like BMW is running out of Design Ideas. Just like infiniti. but they have a good ‘german engineering’ fad that people beleive. I’ll take a VW toureg or Cadillac SRX any day. Better perfromance, more utility, Better quality with the Cadillac and best of all, lower price.
Cadillac even Handles better than Any German ‘Sport Activity vehicle’
But, Thats just me. Do not crusify me for stating my opinion

“I’ll take a VW toureg or Cadillac SRX any day. Better perfromance, more utility, Better quality with the Cadillac and best of all, lower price.” Not to Crucify you, but I must say…
The X5 is going to out perform any non Porsche SUV’s and most likely all the Porsche’s except the Turbo and Turbo S… unless they put the M5 V10 in it that would be nice…
Anyways, Cadillac is not a bad vehicle, but performance wise it is not in the same league as an X5. Believe me, I have owned a 4.4i X5 and my parents have an SRX with the Northstar. My truck was more usable, could tow, and was more reliable I will give you this though the interior was a little too bleak, but all in all was of higher quality then the SRX. My brother has a Toureg, and I gotta say, thats a sweet ride, but again, doesn’t compare to the X5 in the points you gave except that it’s cheaper. But You Get what you pay for.

Boy, I’m starting to believe these blog’s posts should be moderated… Getting too annoying to sort through the junk to actually interesting comments…
This is actually somewhat surprising. There’s something about the front that feels very un-BMW. Maybe it’s the super busy front bumper design, or the “of the moment” style vents/fog light cutouts. There’s almost a hint (unintentional, I’m sure) of Toureg there.
While I’ll wait to see it in person for final judgement, it doesn’t seem like an improvement over the current, tighter design at all.
Disappointing. I think we’re seeing some conservative (too conservative?) design in reaction to the earlier Bangle models…

Anyone notice the lack of gaps on that vehicle? That’s a bit unreal! Like the sides of the hood and (I know angle matters here) but you can’t make out anything concerning the door gaps!
Either they’ve figured something incredible out or this picture does not communicate everything.

I like the sticks hanging off the front of the car, personally. It looks like you’re really important. It would get noticed in SoCal, definitely.
You wait. When the first guy puts camera sticks on his Bimmer, you saw it here first.

Love everything about it except the stupid gap right under the twin-kidney grille and above the bumper. Why the hell leave a gap like that?! Lexus RX330 had one just like it (under grille, above bumper) and they got rid of it when they made a hybrid out of it. Come on BMW!
