No surprise: DCX approves Dodge Avenger production

11/23/2006, 4:25 PM

By admin

DaimlerChrysler has approved production of the new Dodge Avenger, the company said in a dealer note obtained by the Detroit Free Press.

The memo is the first official acknowledgment from the company that it will build the Avenger, which was introduced as a “concept” in September. Of course, most industry observers were well aware the vehicle was intended for production. Previous rumors have indicated the Avenger will arrive in February. This thing needs an engine. The 235 hp “high performance” V6 would make a nice entry-level engine, but they need to go up from there, not down. Most Dodge owners place a priority on perfomance, and don’t like to get their doors blown off my Camrys and Accords.

looks good. I think it should do better than the sebring actually.

As for why buy either.. hopefully it won’t blow a tranny at 49k miles like the ****box acura TL I had. lol.

they indeed should work the 3.5 to a 250+hp where it already has been.

Or a hybrid, for the socially conscience? Hopefully, the 4 banger’s fuel mileage is better than the Calibur’s.

uhmm why bother with the sebrings 4l engine when you can drop the lighter Caliber SRT-4 300hp monster into a car that doesnt look half gay. And with AWD hopefully :)

Indeed, a SRT-4 version would help.

Like a fifth of Jack, 300hp makes most cars prettier.

I wish Dodge and Chrysler would hurry up and die so we didn’t have to suffer their ****ty looking, ****ty built and ****ty driving products any more.
If I ever fly to Buck Wheat Mississippi it will be the only time I use a dodge and that will be off the airport rental lot

I like how the Avenger looks. If they can make it fun to drive and offer a manual trans with the 3.5 liter V6, it should be well received.
