They should move the US GP around the country. Different track every year. Get interest going all around the country.
I'd go if it was close. Not going to blow my vacation flying to Indiana!

This sux. Bernie is trying to squeze every little cent out of the track owners and promoters but rarely gives any of that back to the teams. Well except Ferrari of cource. He's trying to force Eddie George into a deal by carting out possible F1 race at Laguna Seca or no F1 in US at all. A California race would be cool and all for the west coast but I don't think that it would have the crowds of Indy. Plus that track is not up to the standards of F1. I've been to 5 Indy races. Including the Michellin Ban race & The Schumacher Gifting-the-Win-to-Ruebens.

Hopefully the manufacturers will help to enlighten Bernie.

Well, it would be nice if the writer of this article did some research (or watched a USGP), he might notice that the course is not setup as an oval track when f1 comes. It is set up as a 13 (if memory serves) turn road course with a banked straight.

All the idiots saying that it's just an oval don't know shit about what they're talking about. At Indy, the US GP has 12 curves, hardly an oval, as the race was run through the infield. Maybe it's just your ignorance and not quite idiotness. However, if you're going to make accusations, learn the facts first.

Their is always The American LeMans Series, Great drivers great cars (no Viper though shame that). INDY and CART are getting it in gear. I'm not a big fan of Oval Racing so I only go for the Road course sessions.

But F1 racing is not killed in the US, just the one race. I'm sure others will say, "Race over Here" if things can't be straightened out at the Brickyard. I know GP is not lost on us in TEXAS.

I was actually planning to go Next year. Oh well. It'll be Brazil or Canada then. I disagree with those who say oval racing is easy though.. It's boring as hell to watch, but no form of professional motorsport is easy. That said, I'll never be an IRL, CART or NASCAR fan. World Rally & F1 are my faves.

I went to Indy for the USGP this year, hate to say it but the facilities suck. It doesn't deserve to host a GP.
Countries and cities in Asia are willing to build new tracks and facilites tailor made for F1 and pay big fees to get the visitors and attention. Some big US city should build a decent track. A Melbourne style course would be awesome in Chicago but I guess Vegas would be the obvious choice.

all racing requires top notch skills....even the lazy redneck racing calling Nascar....it is hard doing 180+mph 1foot away from someone else for 500miles....its just not entertaining making left turns....F1 did something nice at Indy...they went clockwise on the track, which Nascar or Indy does not do

What do carbs and restrictor plates have to do with the quality of racing? People like nascar because theirs lots of passing and lead changes and a big wreck usually. Look all I am saying is, Nascar takes skill to race in too. If you don't like watching it, fine I dont care. I don't like watching it either. I am just tired of douches like LP640 sayin Nascar doesn't require skill.

LP640....if you know anything about F1 racing, you would know that they dont go around circles. the Indy GP track is a whole new circut that was specifically designed for the F1 series. and yes Nascar and Indy is boring as watching Oprah, but with CART and F1 on road courses only, its the most entertaining form of road racing there is......
its just too bad they arent having a '08 GP in the US....it was the one year i was planning on going.

Bernie Ecc. is a prick who cares nothing about F1 fans and worships money. Cutting off the entire US over a few bucks. Nice.
As for F1 as a racing series, it's good and bad. Amazing cars, drivers, etc. Incredibly boring "racing".
A half second in the pits seems to decide most races. I usually DVR it and watch the first 10 laps, then skip to the last 5. That contains 90% of the action.
As for the coverage, I was escstatic when Fox started carrying races as they were broadcast in HD. For whatever reason, they only showed 4 races this year, now its back to craptacular non HD for the rest of the season.
The whole fiasco just makes me feel screwed with.
Best racing on TV now? American Lemans Series.

anyone who says there isnt much passing in F1, is just a guilty of sterotyping races, as someone who says driving in circles dosent take skill.

If you actually watch a race, and not just listen to what a biased nascar fan says about it, you'll notice quite a bit of passing and passing attepmts.

LP640, F1 has been running a road course at Indy that was cut into the grounds, through the infield, and around the golf course, using only the front stretch and turn 4 part of the oval.

F1 cars are great the drivers are great....the racing sucks however. There is hardly any passing! Americans cant cheer for any of the drivers (scott speed but he's not that good). It just doesn't work in America for some reason. LP460 I believe they have a road course in the middle of the oval as well. Ask indy drivers if it takes skill, they only go around the oval at 230 mph bumper to bumper. Ask Juan Montoya if it takes skill, he hasn't won a race or come close to winning a race on one of the ovals and its almost been a year. He won on a road course, but theirs only 2 road courses in NASCAR. I dont even really enjoy NASCAR much, I am just sick of people syaing it doesn't take skill to drive around an oval. Try doing it bumper to bumper at 180 mph and still hit your brake points perfectly everytime and tell me its not hard.

gbb,
you should actually watch the races, or at least read up on the details.

* Renault's Fernando Alonso beat world champion Michael Schumacher 2 years in a row.
* Last year, Honda's Jenson Button actually won the Hungarian Grand Prix.
* After Schumacher's retirement, Alonso joined McLaren-Mercedes for 2007, only to be trailing behind current points leader rookie driver Lewis Hamilton.
* Hamilton has made the podium in 9 races in a row, unlike any driver this season.
* Kimi Räikkönen left McLaren to drive with Ferrari, but started falling behind, which allowed others to score more points, but now Ferrari is back in form.
* Ferrari's Massa stalled his car in the British GP over the weekend, but fought hard to make it up the ranks to 5th place... all the way from the back. (he started from the pit lane)
* BMW's Nick Heidfeld has made it to the podium as well
* BMW's Kubica has been doing well despite a big accident, which gave him a concussion.
* Although Toyota has not been doing well in races, they have been doing well in Qualifying.
* Renault may have led last year, but they are playing catch-up this year, even though they have retained one of their drivers, Fisichella.

So now we have Ferrari, McLaren-Mercedes, BMW with 6 drivers fighting for the podium.... while previous leader Renaul trails below, and some improvements from Toyota and Honda, along with some disappointments.

Some teams truly suck... such as the Spyker-Ferrari team and the STR-Ferrari team... but it is really a great time to be a Formula 1 fan.

Yawn...........after the big Michelin tire fiasco, nobody cared anyway. F1 cars are cool, but the racing sucks cause there isnt much of it. Just follow the leader and maybe 1-2 good passes per event.
