NYPD tests 2006 Dodge Charger

By admin

The NYPD is adding the 2006 Dodge Charger to its fleet. The department plans to buy 15 of the cars for a pilot program that will begin this summer, the Associated Press reports. The police highway unit will test drive 10 Chargers featuring V-8 HEMI engines, officials said. The rest will have V-6s and hit city streets in the five boroughs. If they pass inspection, they could replace hundreds of squad cars in the NYPD’s 3,000-vehicle patrol fleet, now dominated by Ford Crown Victorias and Chevrolet Impalas.

I think it will kill the brand. After all the police cruisers are on the road, owning a Charger will be about as kool as owning a Ford Crown Victoria.

If I remember corectlly they tried Dodge before. The Intrepid, which every last cop hated and wanted the Crown Vics back. The Crown Vic has been Replaced and brought back every time. Now if I was Ford I would put the GT engine in the Vics for Cops. I would be more scared of the Vic with a GT engine than the Charger. And besides the new Hemi sucks. Not even a true Hemi. ahh the god ol days for a 69 Charger with a true Hemi.
