I don’t get this thing you americans have going for hybrids, diesel is much better, less consumption, less C02 emissions, no smoke, when ULSD is used, most modern engines can easily use a B20/B30 biodiesel mix, besides that, its torque makes it a much better option for SUV’s/vans/pick-up trucks, in most european countries you only get diesel variants of those types of vehicles, because almost nobody buys gasoline powered ones.

I get 42 mpg with my Saturn SL-1 daily driver, but I also pollute the air with exhaust much more than a hybrid does. No matter what anyone drives, they ALL use gas, mainly from the middle east, gas or oil (diesel). A diesel uses oil, albeit in smaller doses than a gas-powered vehicle, but still has people using oil / gas. Somewhere, someone has a better solution. I Know I know, I’m a wimp for driving a Saturn in general, let alone one that gets 42 mpg.
