The tow truck drivers take the owners of the POS American cars to the Honda or Toyota dealers so they can get something reliable. The owners of the American cars just leave the POS American cars on the side of the road
State Troopers don’t use the Avalon bc it doesn’t have a V8 and Avalon’s actually sell to regular people and have no need for fleet sales
I didn’t have to rent a car this time but I will rent an American car in January
Hopefully it won’t leave me stranded on the side of the road

larism, edmunds just put the new cts rite up there with the g35 and bmw 335, (but i know you are looking at coupes), it was rite above the is350 and c350 but just below the others. it has an excellent interior and a really nice entertainment package too, it is definately a car to consider.

Ian — yes, I am thinking of the 335. In a car I am simply looking for style, or that sexiness. Dependability, resale value, and all that of that is of course, important as well. I am leaning towards the Infinity, again, simply because of the style. As far as not being able to consider an american car on my list, sorry — the Mustang, imo of course, is just not what I call sexy…..Ford: Thanks, but no thanks.

It’s funny I took a road rip on Friday and while on the road I saw nothing but american cars on the side of the road. Fords Dodges and GM vehicles. Im also in a part of the country where Fords rule but that is changing. Im seeing more and more Toyotas Acura’s and Infiniti’s here than American cars. The most popular american car here seems to be the Impala and the Magnum.
Of course you dont care about magazines bc they tel the truth about the Japanese cars being more reliable and having better build quality. You are a idiot anyway

Lincoln and Mercury really surprised me. I guess it goes to show that people prefer Mercury’s waterfall grille (and gorgeous model; WOW! what a looker) and Lincoln’s pseudo-luxury bling to Ford’s “Red, White, and Bold” three bar grille. I think Ford Corporation just cannibalizes on itself by offering such similar products by its three American brands. I guess it does well enough now to keep the corporation afloat and surviving, but it’s not a good model for long term longevity and growth. I would still like to see Ford Corporation eventually redefine their brands by giving them distinct, brand specifically styled/designed products.

Larsim: what 3 series are you looking at? I would assume a 335i coupe, because that would be the only 3 series to buy if you’re thinking of a G37. I work for BMW and well their cars a probably in my opinion the most fun to drive. The G37 is a VERY CLOSE 2nd though. Not putting an American car on your list is kind of limiting yourself. Take a look at the Mustang GT, GT-H, GT CS. They are very fun cars to drive and well almost worth the looking at because of its Price tag.

MUJICIAN – The point I was trying to make was that as much as I don’t like to admit, Nissan/Infinity cars, imo of course, look waayyyyy better than most of the american cars out there. American carmarkers, if they want to survive, need to wake up and smell the roses. I am 30 years old, am in the market for a new car, but I can not consider putting an american car on my list. Sad to say, but american cars are boooooring. I am torn between Nissan/Infinity (G37) or BMW (3 Series).

I’m not saying this is definitely the case, but maybe pople are realizing that for the same price as a Honda with an “A” on the front, they can get a real luxury car.
Maybe “A—a” should get dedicated models, if it wants to reverse its sales slide. Maybe too many customers are asking salesmen the difference between the “MDX” and Pilot, and walking away convinced there is no difference

Stat is good, but for small volume manufacturers like Kia, it is easier for them to rack up huge increase in percentage by having one model selling really well. Nonetheless, it is good to see domestic as well as the Koreans doing better. There is such thing as patriotism that the Big3 has. People still romanticize the cars of 50s, the muscles of 70s etc. and they are all American. If the Big3 improves even marginally in reliability (which is happening), people will choose them.

1115, there you go about Acura again. Stylish? Hardly. It is BLAND, but I will give you that they are not ugly at the least. Cadi and European brands are more distinctive when it comes to styling. Acura is either a dressed up Honda (I could re-badge an Acura with Honda badges and you would never know) or a failure at trying to copy BMW. Keep dreaming that “Acuras are the best cars now” when the opponents are really the Europeans. Ever wonder why BMW and MB does not sell cheap products to compete with Scion and Honda? Because they have the brand recognition and they don’t have to groom the young buyers with a cheapo Civic to buy their “luxury” cars later in life.

Let me also remind you that our numbers have been down all year because we aren’t reporting the 350,000 Taurus fleet sales we have always had in the past. Wait till next year. what are you on about autonut. no seems to understand that NISSAN and RENAULT have an alliance,renault owns 40% of nissan while nissan has a share in Renault. renault did not takeover nissan. the designs do not come from france especially the N.american nissan lineup, the are either designed in the san diego design studio or tokyo.
I can’t see how mercury sales increased,not one model of interest there,ford needs to axe that brand and concentrate on lincoln a brand with great potential.

It is important to note that GM actually sold 8,000 more vehicles than last October, but this year there was an extra sales day so it is actually posted as a decline on a day-by-day basis although its actually a gain on a month-to-month basis.

Also, Toy sales growth has clearly stopped. Honda will inch up more thanks to the Accord, but Acura is absolutely horrible (so again 1115, Acura is not all that great. In fact, it sucks)
