But if McD's had to pay union salary to the clown behind the register I couldn't have my double greaseburger for $1. Ofcourse I'd happily pay $1.50 for it if they could ever figure out what it means when I say NO PICKLES.

I completely agree with golf4me. When someone with no education can walk in a do your job (or with an "intensive" 2 day course), there is no reason you should be earning that much money. The GM union workers should take back the fast food jobs in this country; it is a booming industry.

Really, 400horse? Let's see...what's the #1 reason the automakers are losing money? High wages and legacy costs. You can go on and on about poor design and product, but you know, ultimately cars are designed for production, and the Big 3 have had their hands tied financially by the high costs of labor, and the fact that they have to design cars that can be put together by HS dropouts, both of which limit their ability to put the engineering, materials, and complexity that other automakers are able to incorporate. Unions had their day, they did good things for people early on, but you have to face it, their time has gone. It was gone 30 years ago. Time to move on in a lean, efficient manner if you want to have any domestic auto industry from this day forward. The states that do not have right-to-work laws are now prospering from manufacturing while union states are losing jobs at a record pace. Shouldn't that tell you something?

All the tax credits, grants and sh!t really get me boiled. WHY should Ohio taxpayers pay for GM's irresponsibility? Why in the end should the people of Ohio pay for GM's retooling of their plants? Sure, it will save jobs, but only about 2,400. Sure, it's a cruel thing to say just forget about these guys, but that's the result of GM's misfortunes NOT to reinvest into their American plants over the years. Everyone was predicting high gas prices and the economy would crumble a few years back, and we all knew it would be soon. GM could have taken the initiative to invest in new tooling, reducing capacity of their SUV's to keep both resale value and supply in good health, and enabled different vehicles to be produced at the factory. Difficult thing to do, but I vaguely remember GM posting huge sales and profits just a few years ago.

Ohio was being very generous with their offer. However, I don't think GM should have taken it anyways, if they respect their own workers and people in the U.S.A. It's crap moves like this that get Americans boiled, not just crap cars.
