GM is nearing the end of the road for its now defunct brands, but it appears that Saturn will join Hummer in one more production run before finally calling it quits. GM says that they had a surplus of Saturn Outlook parts, and the brand will see one final production run in order to use up the surplus.
GM announced the failure of the sale for Hummer late last month, resulting in the termination of the brand completely. Not long after GM announced the end for the iconic off-road brand, an announcement of one last fleet order for 849 units of H3 and H3Ts.
Now, Saturn will be revived alongside Hummer in order to produce a final run of Saturn Outlook SUVs, according to Automotive News.
“We are building out a few Saturns to utilize existing material,†said GM spokeswoman, Kim Carpenter. Carpenter clarified that GM will assemble Outlooks for only a few more weeks before finally shutting the plant down.
GM assembled 1,037 Saturn Outlooks in February, after a stop in production since October, 2009. Hummer’s final order will cease production by May 13, 2010.
