I agree that this is a real shame because Aston Martin should still hold a certain level of exclusivity no matter who owns the brand. However, the V8 Vantage leather key fob is still attractive.

Something I really would have got upset over was the fact that the then Flagship, James Bond Driving, Premium Priced Vanquish came with the Identical key fob as a Ford Focus. Talk about cutting costs. Ford didn’t bother wrapping that one in leather.

^^ Well actually… most, if not all, Volvo keys are designed and manufactured by the Valeo Group which is a multinational company originating in Europe. The keys primarily are made in the U.K.

It is weird to actually have the volvo name on it, but other than looks, all key fobs esentially work the same no matter what brand they are. So if it was made by aston themselves, I wouldn’t expect it to be any better than one from volvo or anyone else.

So..its no different from Rolls Royce still using Bentley’s air vents. Whats wrong with Volvo? Its a key fob..get over it.. Aston Martins aren’t that exotic. They cost a only tiny bit more than a Range Rover!

But still, you would wonder why ‘Volvo’ was not scratched off, or painted over before it was covered in leather.

I’ve had the new new for around a year now and i’ve never had a problem with any of the parts on it. i was lucky enough to be able to go to the Aston factory in the UK and watch my car being built on the line, and after that experience i know that i was getting what i paid for. All the seats were being sewed by a group of women at one end, not to mention that the leather they use is from their own stock which they raise under strict conditions, while the dash board was being put together piece by piece by hand at the other end, and not to mention the paint job which takes over 40 hours and so on… People who freak out just because their key is a volvo key are being asinine. I rather they spend more time on the looks and feel of the car rather than a stupid electric key piece that you never really look at. And so what if its volvo, its a great company, i own a volvo as well and i’ve got nothing but great things to say about them. I’d rather have my key from Volvo than Ford or GM. And excuse me? People who have said that I would feel “embarrassed” now… Are you serious? I’m still driving a f*king Aston… one of the best looking cars in the world. You should feel embarrassed for saying that when you drive a Toyota or Honda. We’ll see who feels better when we meet at the next stoplight

Of course I’d be embarrased! Spending 150,000$ on a car that uses parts from 30,000$ cars will make every Aston owner feel like an ass. I bet the owner of that Aston started to disassemble his car to see what’s under the “hood”.

The Volvo sourced switchgear and ancillaries are some of the best there is, that’s why Jaguar have been using it for years. I can’t wait to see what their new Indian sourced stuff will be like……

I’ll i can say is “oops” …..

I have driven the new Vantage on more than one occasion – and it is truly a beautiful car – inside
and out …….believe me – the leather, the wonderful smells and the driving experience
are great – and should be for the price. No Ford parts here needless to say as far as
the interior goes. Or at least they are hiding them extremely well !!

The new EMC control starter key that has trickled down from the DBS is a nice piece and
very very expensive to replace – but it is more than a little “downer” when you rub
off some plastic and “Volvo” appears on the old style keychain.

Like being in bed with a beautiful girl that is really just an airhead – everything works
great and you feel wonderful until she starts speaking ……..;-)
