Opel to unveil new concept in Geneva

02/20/2007, 1:41 AM

By admin

Early next month, Opel will present a new concept car to be displayed at the Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle’s identity is unknown, and it’s not known if it points directly to a future production model, or if it is a design study.

Given Opel’s close ties to Saturn, it’s safe to assume the car is just as relevant to the American brand as Opel. There is some speculation the concept might preview the next-generation Vectra sedan, however this cannot be confirmed.

[sarcasm]WOW, THIS CAR IS MAD AWESOME TIGHT YO![/sarcasm]

Guess we’ll have to wait if we want to see any pictures of relevance. Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the Vectra a lot smaller than the G8?

It doesn’t really matter what it looks like. I just heard that GM talked to Opel dealers, and they said they don’t want a new car.

I love Opel, always have. Perhaps I’m biased by my youth spent with a spunky little 1969 Opel Kadett Rallye. It was a fun ride, and surprisingly quick and agile for such a cheap econobox. I had a Weber carb, header, 4 on the floor. Man I miss than little rust box. It looked like this, but in copper, and a bit uglier:

Anyway, Opels are cool for cheap cars. Someday, I’ll find another classic Kadett.
