Bentley has released details of a limited-edition variant of its Arnage sedan. First created when Bentley was owned by Rolls-Royce, the Arnage embodies what many would consider traditional Bentley values, including the trademark 6 and 3/4 liter V8 engine. Just 150 Arnage Final Series vehicles will be produced before the automaker bids farewell to the line.
The Arnage Final Series includes the Arnage T powertrain, including the aforementioned twin-turbo 6 3/4 liter V8 that produces 500 horsepower and approximately 735 lb-ft. of torque. The powertrain delivers power to the rear wheels via a six-speed ZF automatic transmission.
Outside, the Final Series features unique 20 inch wheels, a retractable “Flying B” mascot, body-colored headlamp bezels, dark tint matrix upper and lower grilles, lower front wing vents, a “Jewel”-style fuel filler cap, dual exhaust pipes and Final Series badging.
Open the door and the lucky 150 buyers will be greeted by Final Series step plates, drilled alloy brake and accelerator pedals, unique chrome trim throughout designed by Mulliner, a rear cocktail cabinet with a stainless steel flask and shot glasses and two picnic tables. Further, the Final Series comes with four special umbrellas and a premium 1,000 watt audio system by Naim.
No two Final Series cars are expected to be alike thanks to 42 unique exterior schemes, 25 interior hides and three wood veneers, not to mention the bespoke color-matching service Bentley offers to make an entirely personalized car.
The Final Series also marks the 50th anniversary of Bentley’s V8 motor. The 2009 variant of the engine is still essentially the same design that was introduced in the 1959 Bentley S2. Though most automakers wouldn’t be proud of this accomplishment in today’s world of rapid engine redesigns, Bentley’s motor stands on its own. Power and torque were described as “adequate” in Bentley literature when the motor was first unveiled. Now twin-turbocharged, the all-aluminum engine is probably a touch more than “adequate.” Bentley lists 0-60 in 5.3 seconds for the 5,699 lb. automobile. Naturally, fuel consumption suffers a bit: Bentley says that the Arnage Final Series averages less than 10 mpg in the city and just over 20 on the highway in European testing.

shame on you, you philistine. They tried to kill it off before but the demand was too strong to ignore, at least if this the last one, they’ve done it with style, more than might have been expected of the Germans

This car really is lovely. It’ll be a shame to see it go.
But if they can the Arnage, will the Azure and Brooklands go with it, too? They’re on the same platform.
I wonder what Bentley has up its sleeve to replace this car. Hopefully, it’ll still be powered by the 6 3/4 V8.

0-60 in 5.3! I would just love to see the look on some peoples faces when you do that to them in a gigantic luxo.

The next Arnage will get the 6 3/4 engine, VWs engineers are working overtime to help it meet emission standarts and stuff like that.
Also the Veyron engine might be dropped in, so buckle up!

I love the Arnage line..
The way I see Bentley is that they are traditional. Which is a nice thing. I always find it hard for me to adjust to model changes with Bentley. Bentley are the greatest automakers ever (In my opinion), and my favorite, and it wouldent be the same without the Arnage! Awell, those 150 buyers are lucky. I hope Bentley replace it with something not to futuristic, and not with something that is better than the Continental FS.

Inline 6: Just remember, the Brooklands has come and gone already, Bentley only made 550 of them, all of which have already been bought and deliverd. But that would suck if they all went with the Arnage..
El Aleman: The Veryron engine?! W16 and 4 Turbochargers..could you imagine that in a Arnage? It woudlent even fit!

[Got Handling?] is correct. The demand has been too strong, and continues to be. We could have sold 1000. But only 150 means something very, very special for our best customers, some of whom had sent in a full cash payment — even before receiving their invitations. All 150 are people who insist upon bespoke automobiles. Some will even request a certain color and pattern of stitching on the seats, which may differ from the color of the stitching on the steering wheel. There are as many different options for wood trim as there are for seating, stitching, exterior color, etc. That is, unless something else like carbon fiber is preferred. The customer does not only have the choice of color for the carpeting, but, if they like, how plush it is, and/or what it is made from. Which is also the case for the leather seating. Matte calfskin, goatskin, suede accents, whatever you wish. The owner might not care for the tone of the horn, so we can change it. Or add more horns, for harmony. Each AFS will truly be one-of-a-kind.
But there is only so much that can be done without a modern chassis. And an Arnage customer is not a Spur customer. So it is time for a new generation Bentley, different from the Spur, yet one that continues our heritage of quality, luxury, and power.
Timing is still being discussed with respect to the future of the Azure. And while the most recent run of Brooklands is over, that doesn’t mean that you will never see another.

Sad to see Bentley letting this legend go. I must admit though, it would be hard not to consider a Roller if I was in this market. Theyre just so compelling in their beauty.

This is a bygone and archaic dinosaur of a car; heavy and fuel consuming, it handles like QE II, it costs a fortune and it’s a car for really, really wealthy people..And I love it!!!
