Pastors preaching against Ford in Sunday sermons

05/02/2006, 12:55 PM

By admin

An ultra-conservative Christian group has seized upon Ford’s sponsorship of an upcoming gay pride event to intensify its call for a nationwide boycott of the automaker, reports the Detroit News. Some dealers say the campaign is starting to hurt sales. Pastors are preaching against Ford in their Sunday sermons. And some congregants have called and written dealers, saying they won’t buy Ford cars until the company stops supporting organizations working to legalize gay marriage.

LOL!!! These idiot so called Christains need to get a life!! My God!! They are preaching hate. This cracks me up so. They need to learn to like gays, because if gays are going to hell, so are the haters and people casting judgements… I am buddhist so none of this affects me! LOL. I think theses people need to learn to “love thy neighbor” not “hate thy neighbor” and “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, I guess these extremiest Christains believe themselves as some kind of martyrs that are above the very Book they preach from….

Maybe the day will come when the employees at the plants, who happen to be the same church-going crowd, lose their jobs because Ford falters.

Good for Pastors standing for right morals. If someone said that they were gay 50 years ago it was a shameful thing. Now everything is ok. No, Pastors should not hate anyone, but they should not support the gay acts.

I wonder if Ford were to stop supporting the gay community and they decided to boycott Ford, would the right-wing be able to make up the difference in lost customers.

These same people torched single women who didn’t put out, took it upon themselves to attempt a ‘final solution’ for the Jews, kept Blacks as sex and work slaves – didn’t even let them in their churches less than a generation ago.

Where I am; on Sunday’s in the 20-30’s they saved black criminals ’till after church on Sunday for a good ole’ Public Hanging.

They always have and always will need SOMEONE to hate; it’s the Christian way.

Besides, everybody knows; the ones that shout the loudest are the most afraid – they’re one of them.

here’s a clue…
not all on the right hate gays.
not all on the left support gays.
not all on the right are christians.
not all on the left are christians.
not all christians believe what they are told by the church
not all on the left are evil.
not all on the right are evil.

That said… Ford has been chosen by a group… same as Sierra Club ripping in to GM for their “horrible” SUV’s… so now they have a choice to make:
a) continue to market to all, pray that others do not yell too loud.
b ) continue to market to the gay gommunity, be damned those who yell about it.
c) drop the marketing to the gay community.

This is political to the gays. This is political to the christian groups. This is Business to Ford.

This is ridiculous. These Pastors are using their bible and pulpit to preach hate and suppresion of other human beings who are just trying to live their lives in the only way that gives them happiness. And how dare they try to intimidate a company that simply recognizes the gay community as a valid group to market their products to??

There are MUCH more important things going on in the world that these “holy” people need to focus their efforts on… Leave gay people alone!

A bit hypocritical to be preaching tolerance of homosexuals while being intolerant of Christians.
Also, I find the original story’s labeling of an “ultra-conservative Christian group” a bit odd. If they are having an effect on Ford sales, then they may be more mainstream than the author cares to admit.

Now, Christians can get a bit preachy, and that started this whole “controversy”, but they should be tolerated, just as gays should, even if tolerance is the totally wrong word for it. a more appropriate term for it is indifference. why have the opinion that homosexuality is bad if it doesnt affect most of us; if you hate gays than you probably dont know any. gays arent all right, but please remember, neither are chrstians, but they cant be all grouped together, its just the crazy ones in detroit we have to worry about.

Organized religion is all about money and power. The Vatican must cost billions to upkeep all that ornamentation and decoration. Then the chruch has the nerve to ask for donations for the poor and starving.

Most people don’t distinguish between not supporting a life style, and hating someone. I have lots of gay friends. I think they are great people, but I don’t support their decision to be gay. They know my stance as I know their stance. We are still friends in either case. I wont support a company that goes against my beliefes just as those that don’t believe in God don’t give money to the church. As for calling them the “Religious Right” and saying you don’t like them it’s a joke. The same people saying they hate the “Religious Right” are the same people that say they want to see more love, and the same people that say they have an open mind about things.

I wouldn’t go to a chruch that preaches hate against gay people because that’s not Christian. I would go to a church that says they don’t like the homosexual lifestyle, and that they pray for those that have chosen that path. These churches are the ones that befriend homosexuals as people not as a steriotype.

Im a Christian, I don’t support gay marriages i believe its wrong. I don’t hate gay people in anyway. I know some gay people too, their kool.

Pastors arn’t going around pointing fingers saying your all evil and should die for this or anything like this. Plus its the extreme Christians who are hearing this and maybe interpreting this wrong and hating gay people which is also wrong. Aswell sending a letter to Ford saying they won’t buy a Ford vehicle isn’t saying they hate gays either, its saying that promoting this is wrong and you should stop, because its agianst wat God meant when he created Man + Woman.

I know i’ve sinned and any of my sins are just as wrong as being gay or promoting that being gay is alright. But I can still state that being gay is wrong just as you can tell me killing someone is wrong, because thats a fact straight out of the Bible.

Nobody said anything about hating anyone…Its just wrong to be a man and be with another man, same thing goes for a woman being with another woman. If more people read the Bible they would know what is right and wrong. Just because the government says so does not mean it is okay. Isn’t it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven, but they don’t want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

Well said post 27. What shocks me the most is how our people say they are all christians and going to heaven, but dont even look and read Bible. I am not saying not to have a life but really know whats right and wrong. If man with man was right and women with women then we would not have a population. It’s plain sick and wrong, but I do not have those people, but I think their vision is wrong.

Our country was based on pilgrams that left their country because of religios beliefs. This country was build in saying “In God We Trust” and thats why God bless us. Now we are on a roller coaster to hell if we dont stop the sin. God bless everyone and I love my country but we really need to reliaze the crises we are in.

Nothing against gay people, or any sector of people for that matter as long as whatever they do doesn’t affect my life adversely!

Anyway, if these preachers really think gay people are evil, they should welcome them. they can’t reproduce, so let them live their lives and stop whining.

Preaching against for sponsoring a homosexual event is, well, gay.

When you have nothing better to do, you can either start to love or you can start to hate. Unfortunately, most people tend to start to hate.

What about those of us who are not CHristians and are living in a country of religious freedoms? Why is it that one religion must be the core one to create the so called morals here in this country? I am not CHristian, so I am confused as to when you all say It says this in the Bible” etc, etc. Where and what does it say exactly? I know gay people and I have heard the Bible say a man not to wear woman’s clothes….or whatever, but most gay people I know do not cross dress… If someone could just enlighen me to where and what passages this is said in I would be most appreciative.

#13: Absolutely, the right wing would be able to make up the numbers. The number is dwindling, but there is still a large number of Christians in this country. The gay contingent is much smaller, something like 2% of the population. They are what we in the industry call a “small and very vocal minority”.

First of all, I was #12 not #13. And the implied question was not “could they”, but “would they”. These are the same groups that boycotted Disney for four year – they same four years the attendance to the park rose each of those years. These are the same groups that boycotted Microsoft and we can seen how poorly Bill Gates is doing.

I have no particular issue with Christianity, but its just bizarre how these preachers pick and choose what they want from the bible. #27 said “its just wrong to be a man and be with another man, same thing goes for a woman being with another woman. If more people read the Bible they would know what is right and wrong.” but the bible actually says very little about homosexuality. The bible does clearly and in no uncertain terms condemn usury (the paying of interest on a loan), and in fact, the only time Jesus shows real anger is against the money lenders. So WHY are these preachers up in arms about the homosexual lifestyle rather than attacking banks or other businesses that the bible directly condemns? I guess not paying interest would just be to darn inconvenient, no matter what the bible says. Its just a load of intolerant crap. They and their followers look for reasons to condemn people they don’t understand or are afraid of, and then commit the ultimate sin, believing that they are somehow righteous.

This is insane. I respect everyone’s right to their personal religion, but when they try to project their values onto others, it crosses the line. This country was founded on religious and personal freedom. Under our laws, marriage is a civil right and not a religious institution. We get marriage licenses in a court of law and then, if we so choose, go to a church or temple to bless the relationship. Why don’t we allow gay people the same civil rights as everyone else? While some blacks and women may disagree, I see gay rights as the next frontier in the civil rights movement. Gay people don’t choose to be gay, they just are. Two of my best friends are gay and they are good people who work hard and volunteer and contribute to society.
