Peugeot’s latest crossover, the 3008, was officially introduced by the French automaker earlier today at the Geneva Motor Show. Based on the 308, the 3008 features a unique, space-efficient style inside and out – and it will be home to Peugeot’s first-ever hybrid powertrain, expected to arrive in about a year.
At about 171 inches in overall length (4,365 mm), the 3008 MPV will competing against vehicles like the Seat Altea Freetrack and Volkswagen Touran.
The six available gas and diesel engines range from a 1.6-liter gas motor with 120-horspower to a 2.0-liter HDi diesel four-cylinder with 163-horsepower.
The hybrid powertrain is a 2.0-liter HDi four-cylinder putting out 163-horsepower mated to a 37-horsepower electric motor. Peugeot says consumption is down to 4.1 liters per 100 km and CO2 emissions are 109 g/km.
The 3008 gets an especially sporty wrap-around dash with toggle-style switches that could have come out of a sports car. Interior flexibility is a plus, thanks to configurable rear seats.
The 3008 is based on the more conventional 308 and will be available with front- or all-wheel-drive when it is launched later this year. The Hybrid version will arrive about a year from now as a 2011 model.

I doubt that Peugeot will sell a lot of hybrids. Diesels will sell most of them.
