Photos of 400+ hp Holden HSV E-Series leak online

08/17/2006, 9:30 AM

By admin

Photos have leaked online of the new Holden VE-based HSV E-Series. Images of the high-performance originated on popular Holden chat forum ls1.com.au by member ‘Covert.’ The car is based heavily on the 2007 VE Commodore, which incidentally, may come to the United States as the next Pontiac Grand Prix. Output of the HSV model is expected somewhere around the 415 horsepower mark. Like the regular VE, the HSV is based on GM’s new Zeta platform, which will underpin the 2009 Camaro, among other vehicles. Full images after the jump…

Mazdaspeed 6 with an Lancer Evo front, RWD and 400hp.

Sweet!

Just loose the rear wing and make it a ducklid trunk ala M3 CSL.

Note to GM:

Loose the boy racer wing in the back and bring it over to the US and you have a sale from me.

Ditch the rear spoiler, change the color, and that would be hot as hell.

Make the rear wing a deletable option like the rear wings on the WRX used to be.

Some people will want that.

I agree, it looks impressive without that tacky rear spoiler. Funny it seems to suit a smaller bodywork instead of the big sedan configuration of the Zeta platform. The proportions doesn’t seem right with the spoiler on.

Awesome car especially with 400 hp. Just get as much as you can out of those numbers (good transmission parts etc.)

I like it. The design looks more modern than anything else out there in the full size sedan market right now in my opinion.

The VE Commodore is on Holden’s web site, yes.
The “E-Series” HSV car (pictured here) is NOT yet on HSV’s web site. Monday is the premier… so this IS a scoop.

GM would never bring this to the US. It’s too exciting… Pontiac should have been at this caliber years ago!

Looks like Pontiac is trying to get back into excitement. Smart choice, I suppose. Use what’s already out there regarding platforms. If they’re smart, they’ll offer some lower HP versions for MPG and insurance reasons. Overall, I LIKE IT!!! I hope they offer a 6-speed manual tranny option with it.

Sell it here or you’ll never get me into a showroom, GM. And keep working on making 400HP engines with 38mpg in the next few years.

This will be the basis for the next gen Grand Prix and GTO (in a coupe version). Remember, you heard it here first.

VB, the versions that this car are based on have v6 options (around 190Kw or so in the more powerful guise) but are fitted with an auto.

If you go to holden’s website you can see the options (my pick is still the calais, until the statesmen probably :-) )

HSV,finally a model with more than just power, from what i have heard these new cars deliver in all the areas the previous HSV,s did not.If only the c6 corvette had a better quality cabin I might not be considering a new HSV.
