Pininfarina CEO Andrea Pininfarina dies at age 51

Early on Thursday morning, Andrea Pininfarina — CEO of the famed Italian design studio Pininfarina –died in a road accident near the Italian city of Turin. The 51-year old executive was riding his Vespa scooter to the company’s design and R & D center when he was tragically hit and killed by a car.

Andrea Pininfarina took over as company CEO in 2001 and was appointed chairman in 2006. Andrea was the grandson of company founder Battista “Pinin” Pininfarina and is survived by his wife, two sons and daughter.

Our sincerest condolences go out to the Pininfarina family.

Seriously that is tragic. Although I have to say just from reading the headline I thought he went out in a Ferrari at like 200mph since he’s Pininfarina but riding a Vespa? Really not the proper way for a man like that to go but fate can be a cruel mistress I suppose. My regards to his 3 kids.

R.I.P….. its a shame he died on a vespa, and not a Pinin designed ferrari going 200+

The man who designs Ferraris for a living rides a Vespa to work. WTF?

I hate to say it… but maybe he should be nominated for a Darwin Award.

No disrespect intended, but I agree that when I first read the headline I expected a different form of MVA to have caused his death.

This is a loss the the motoring world. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

this reminds me of the dave chappelle skit where they at dave’s funeral . they should have sayed like a MV Agusta motorcycle or something. a moped is no way to die. if he was hit by a Ferrari or a alpha that would be ironic

Rot in hell, you ****ing pedophile asshole. I hope your wife suffers the same and your kids go to abusive foster homes. That’s what you get for whoring out designs to 3rd world auto manufacturers, you greedy pig.

Hence all the more reason there needs to be a cutoff age for driving. Japan has already started taking older citizens off the road and accident rates are going down. BTW “Deanster TJ” what the hell is your deal? Your talking about a man who designed countless successful and timeless cars for the likes of almost all the Italian supercar companies and amassed a huge wealth by doing so, also becoming one of the biggest names in the car industry. What have you done with your life punk?

A lot more than you, you ****ing piece of crap, you gutterslut ****bag. No one asked your dumb ass to offer an opinion. I maintain that he was a pedophile and was into touching young boys.

Furthermore, this greedy capitalist pig whored out the company’s designs to any low-quality banana republic car company. Daewoos, Mitsubishis, the Cadillac Allante, Hyundai MAtrix, and countless other ****boxes were penned by this asshole. No appliance was immune from his slutty design practice. As recently as 2006 this greedy asshole designed the Torino winter olympics torch, which looked like an oversized dildo. I hear he modelled it after a dildo that got stuck up his anus once.

Haha, oh that’s sad. Scrolling down the comments, “best regards”, “you’ll be remembered”…

And then I scroll down the Deansters comment.

It’s unfortunate that he wasn’t quite as great of a designer, or entrepreneur for that matter as some other parts of his family. Did a lot for pininfarina however, best regards.

F3INT))AP3X- What does this have to do with a cut off age for driving? And recent studies have shown that older drivers are among some of the safest.

If that was a joke to keep him off the road though… I doubt he would have given it up for anything.

sad, both for him, for his family and his employees. Sad for the automotive world, too.

but, whats wrong for him about riding a vespa? Just because hes the boss, he doesnt have to always ride a quattroporte, or a ferrari… riding a vespa in the summer is as italian as cappucino, pizza or spaghetti…

^ or as Italian as living at home until age 40, crying to mama everytime someone yells at you, or making your wife’s life a living hell by constantly comparing her to mama. OR as Italian as diving in a soccer game. Or as Italian as eschewing good company in favor of good pasta.

Beatusmongus, too bad about your funeral, I wanted to come and piss on the casket as it was being lowered!! LOL!!!! Just kidding. Come on man, you think I mean any of the things I say in this forum? I’m strictly entertaining myself.

I don’t know Pininfarina from a hole in the wall. I’m sure the family is devastated. My sincerest condolences to their family. Honestly.

I have a black Vespa 250 GTS. It is quite fun to zip around town in. More fun than most cars for short quick trips.

I have 7 motorcycles and this is the one I grab a lot.

RIP Mr Pinifarina. Condolences to your family.
