Playboy magazine has announced its picks for cars of the year. “The Playboy driving team redlined dozens of top models to find the one car that ruled them all,” the magazine said in its January 2006 issue. Top honors go to the Porsche Cayman S, which was named “car of the year.” The “best interstate cruiser” award went to the Cadillac DTS, while the “most fun on wheels” goes to the Mazda MX-5. The most affordable roadster award went to the Pontiac Solstice, while the overall “best bang for your buck” went to the Dodge Charger. The folks at Playboy may not be part of the mainstream automotive media, but they echoed the press’ support for the BMW M5 as “best sport sedan.” Honors for the best wagon went to the Audi A3, while the best SUV of the year, according to the team, is the Hummer H3. And what would a list like this be without some supercars? “Super car of the year” goes to Lamborghini’s Gallardo Spyder, while the “best car to bring to your high school reunion” is the Bentley Continental Flying Spur sedan.
