Sporting a retractable hard top, the Pontiac G6 Convertible offers the all weather benefits of a coupe with the open air advantages of a convertible. Introduced at the 2005 Los Angeles Auto Show, the G6 Convertible became available to the public in the spring of 2006. At introduction, it offered the lowest entry price for a retractable hard top convertible in the market.

Built on GM's Epsilon platform, the G6 Convertible is only offered in the GT trim level, with a front engine/front wheel drive layout. Buyers have a choice of two engines - a 3.5 liter V6 with 217 horsepower or a 3.9L V6 with 222 horsepower. Both engines include a standard 4-speed automatic with driver shift control.

Although it uses a retractable hard top, the G6 Convertible still offers ample seating for four with a cargo volume of up to 12.6 cu. ft. Occupants are protected by front and side impact air bags, with GM's StabiliTrak Dynamic Control System and antilock brakes standard.

The G6 Convertible also offers the latest example of GM's Onstar Services, including AccidentAssist, crash notification, fuel station location, hands-free calling, concierge services, turn-by-turn navigation and vehicle diagnostics.

Striking a blend between performance and luxury, the G6 Convertible comes standard with 18" wheels, front fog lamps, a Monsoon high-performance 8 speaker audio system with an auxiliary input jack, and a three month trial of XM Radio. Two optional packages are available - a premium package and a sports package. The premium package includes luxury touches like leather-appointed seats, heated driver and front passenger seats and a remote vehicle starter system, while the sports package includes features like upgraded wheels, dual exhausts and a shorter axle ratio (3.69 versus 3.29).
