This car may not be for everyone, But I think the aggressive syling on this car is extremely nice. And will deff plan on test driving and probably buying. Pontiac is headed in a good direction of being more “sporty”.

Seriously.

I love GM, and will probably never own anything not made by them.

But seriously.

BMW makes much higher vehicles than GM does now. That could change with the new malibu and CTS, Which so far look like serious competitive vehicles.

But as it stands, GM quality cant touch BMW, MB, Audi, and other German automakers. GM has produced crap the last 20 years, save for the vette and a few other exceptions. If you cant admit that, Then you live in a dream world.

That being said, I am cautiosly optimistic that GM may be back on track after all these years.

And for my two cents on these two vehicles: G6 GXP needs ALOT more power before it can rightfully wear that look. The Torrent GXP is just stupid.

Simple, the BMW will be riding a tow truck or a flatbed down the dragstrip. The Pontiac will still be purring along like a beautiful swiss timepiece. It’s called engineering and the Germans have nothing on GM.

No…I don’t think I am. And I’m as big a G6 fan as anyone…within the limits of sanity anyways. Whatever level its on, GM isn’t going to have its midsized family coupe nipping at the heels of a CTS-V.

Pontiac really needs to completely redesign the front ends of their cars. They all look the same. Every new car they come out with looks dated automatically because that kidney grille design in front has been going on for too long. They squish the grille, they widen it and this time they’ve stretched it with unfortunate results; nice beaver.

great point on pointing out the twin turbo bmw i6 in the 335 puts out more power than the 3.6 GM is dropping in the GXP.

What have they done to the original G6? The old one was praised for its clean and simple shape. I have to agree that the Cladding Team of the Pontiac designers are back with vengeance in messing Pontiac up again. The Torrent is equally hideous, they should look at Opel/Saturn for a change.

so I see the 1996 design team hasn’t been fired ? The G6 was a very welcome departure from the usual tackyness of previous pontiacs, but with the GXP it looks like they have gone back to the uglyness, those hoodscoops are buring my eyes, as is the saggy kidney grill, and the whale tail spoiler, oh and the forward mounted “shark fin”. Does GM seriously not understand why they don’t sell as much as they would like???? Because I understand all of the reasons, they must throw pencils at the ceiling all day…..

No, but the fact that its interior has a Ford parts bin look (and yes, it does, no denying that), and the fact that it has rated behind the Accord, Altima in a variety of categories, both of the two I just mentioned combine both sportiness with utility, while the Fusion simply has sportiness, it doesn’t quite meet the standards in this category, though it is a step up for Ford, it’s not good enough.

The G6 GXP would be a cool idea if the GTP didn’t already exist. I think they’re going to confuse the average customer (at least in terms of identifying various models, GT, GTP, GXP). However, maybe they’re trying to appease people who want a little more performance but don’t want to look like an overgrown high schooler with the lowered look and the funky wing.

As for the Torrent…I think they’re just trying to move some of these. I prefer the look of the Torrent to the Equinox, but I don’t like the price. Too expensive for what it is. Maybe by adding some performance and a sportier appearance people will consider the Torrent seriously.

carsarecool, just wanted you to know that 306hp on the Lexus is considered over 300hp as well(don’t expect the CTS doing much above that)…the 335i is a 3.0 making 300hp…the audi 255hp is a 3.2 (probably a 3.6 would get more power)

But for those of us who appreciate styling and try to appreciate the styling of some of the latest American vehicles get quite tired of hearing Camry and Accord lovers knocking everything put out by their own country, and whining that the quality isn’t up to that of the Camry and Accord.
