In Toronto Canada all I’ve ever seen the rental company’s use are American cars. With the exception of the Hybrid Prius, Yaris and Hyundai Accents because they are good on fuel. No Corolla’s or Camry’s that I’ve ever seen. All the Zip cars in Toronto are imports with exception of the Ford Mustang, and Escape.

Since when does Toyota not use vehicles in fleets for rental cars? Camry’s, Tundra’s, and Corolla’s are often used in rental fleets. No one sells to cab companies, most are used up ex-police cars. The few new one’s I’ve seen are now Prius and Sienna’s in New York. Get your facts straight Tripleonefive wanna-be.

I’m sorry but I like to drive cars and trucks that my neighbors don’t have. The last thing I want is some boring Camry or Accord or even worse Civic. If they offered a different look on the same platform I’d give them a second look. It’s about options, and it worked for a lot of years up until lately.

It’s sad that GM has to make the same car in three or four different brands. Honda and Toyota don’t have to do that and they are running the show. Camry or American Accord even Civic it doesn’t matter what they look like people still buy them. Honda and Toyota don’t even have to sell thier products to rental or cab companies. Those cars are at the top because people buy them and know they are refined, reliable and quality products.

They offer pontiac because it looks totally different than chevy, and a lot of people buy them for that reason. And the pontiac 9-3 comment, they allready share a platform, so it would be pointless and not to mention sell far less cars. I see way more G6’s than 9-3’s.

Jayjc08-Well GM did something right by bringing over the VXR8. That is a bigger car but they don’t need the G6, they have the Malibu. Why doesn’t GM make a Pontiac 9-3? They own Saab so they might aswell just rebadge the car. That would cost too much money though. What I’m saying is GM only needs Chevrolet cars and trucks, Saturn for people who want the European style and Cadillac for higher end. Get rid of Pontiac, GMC and Buick. They can make a Chevy quiet like a Buick, and make a real SS sport brand for the Chevy’s. I mean make SS like Dodge has SRT, a big performance difference not just put on a badge, change the rims put a skirt package and call it a sport model. They can do the same with Saturn’s Redline cars.

I’ve always liked the G6. I wish it was a little bit better to look at, easier to enter and exit, and a little bit more interior space. Oh yeah, tighter handling, it’s zippy to drive, but as already pointed out a little soft.

wagon- Like WHAT European sporty cars? They could have brought over the VX220, but it’s been replaced and was low production in the first place. Maybe something to replace the G3, but that’s about it…

You do realize, the G6 GTP, The Aura XR and LTZ Malibu are all quicker than even Altima SE-R. 5.9 to 60mph and 14.5 in the 1.4 is pretty decent for a midsize family hauler.

I wonder how many decades GM is going to keep this design and platform for. I say 10 years like all the rest of their car plateforms. I always thought Pontiac was the sportier GM brand but I found out that it’s just the sportier looking GM brand. GM needs to axe the American floating boats and bring over the European cars that are actually sporty. Maybe then they may be able to compete with the Japanese and Euopean cars.

They added one opening in the bottom of the front facia in between where there was two. For the back end I can’t tell, but who cares the coupe looks much better anyway.

the exterior is pretty good for this car, it could use some handeling improvements since the ones Ive driven, including the GXP version I found to be a little soft for GM’s so called performance divsion. I think the best thing that could be done to this car outside of that is improve the interior, simply take the interior from the G8 and boom, job done. This car should also be the leading canidate to be GM’s first midsize car with the turbo charged 260 horsepower 4 cyl.

my girlfriend just leased one last week. She likes it. But the G6 is kinda girly to me so something I wouldn’t look into.. Even though I do like the G6 Coupe… Basically this is the Grand Am replacement, and it’s one of Pontiac’s volume cars… I see soo many each day it’s not even funny.

I agree with xyunya, who does need this? Pontiac should be axed, along with hummer and GMC. It only makes sense as Buick is very strong in China, and the product there is 10x better than that which is sold here. then saturn has ties with opel, and chevy and cadillac are strong within themselves and can pull some design from holden. Hummer and GMC are simple to understand their demise with $4 and $5/gallon gas. So this leaves pontiac as a north american only product of which the rest of the world wouldn’t touch. From its dated 80s front end, to its brand engineered product line, its just not a necessary brand anymore. Its time GM gets lean, its smaller than toyota and shrinking, but acts like it still has 50% of the world market with all of its brands.

LOL this G6 looks more Japanese then the Grand Am it replaces.The G6 coupe looks like it copied the Toyota Camry Solara coupe design

I rented this car in Feb and it was no gem and had pretty poor handling

The exterior was never the issue n this car the interior was and I hope GM adressed it and will put one of those new interiors like they have in the upcoming Equinox and Invicta

1st post. Front looks like it will be better, rear is tough to tell what has changed.
