For 2008, the Solstice is offered in base trim and GXP trim. The base Solstice comes with an Ecotec 2.4-liter 4-cylinder rated at 171 horsepower that can be mated to either a close-ratio 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic. Riding on a standard sport suspension using Bilstein monotube shock absorbers, the base Solstice features 18' painted aluminum wheels with optional polished aluminum or chromed wheels.
The base Solstice offers a wide variety of standard and optional safety equipment. GM's Onstar Services, which includes AccidentAssist, crash notification, fuel station location, hands-free calling, concierge services, turn-by-turn navigation and vehicle diagnostics, is available. In addition to Onstar, the base Solstice includes standard front air bags and available antilock disc brakes at all four corners. GM's StabiliTrak Dynamic Control System is also available as an option on the base Solstice.
For 2008, the base Solstice offers a variety of optional packages: a Club Sport Package that includes antilock brakes, a limited slip differential and a revised suspension; a convenience package that includes steering-wheel mounted cruise control and fog lamps; a personal audio link that integrates an Apple iPod; a preferred package that includes power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry and power-adjustable outside mirrors; and a premium package that includes leather seats, 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and steering wheel accessory controls.
