The Porsche 911 Carrera from the 997 model range that came onto the market in Fall 2004 today received Germany’s highest design award, the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany in Gold. Dagmar Wöhrl, Parliamentary Secretary of State for the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, awarded the prize to Matthias Kulla, Head of Exterior Design at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG this morning in Frankfurt. The jury found the “judicious and sophisticated modernization of a former style icon worth honoring. The current 911 is characterized both by a “return to central elements of its 911 predecessors“ as well as a “continuing development of successful stylistic features“. The sports automobile has been built since 1962 and is now in the sixth generation.
