2009 Porsche 911 Turbo [Spied]

Porsche has slowly been taken the wraps off its updated 911 range – including the 911 Carrera and Carrera 4 and 4S – but the German automaker has yet to unveil its 911 Turbo. However, thanks to our crack spy photographers, we no longer have to wait for the car’s reveal to see what changes are in store.

While Porsche engineers tried very hard to keep us from seeing the rear of the car, our photos reveal all new, LED taillights. Other changes include a deeper front air dam, restyled fog lights and updated LED daytime running lights.

After being bested by the Nissan GT-R, Porsche also has updates in store for the powertrain. The Turbo will get a 15-25hp bump via a new direct-injection system. A few other upgraded internals will also be in store.

These things are sick. We tried to catch a stolen one and it was impossible. We used our fastest car, a modded Dodge charger with a 390hp Hemi pursuit engine and the 911 just took off like the Charger was standing still. Roadblocks were pointless because the driver was able to maneuver around anything with such ease. Sadly we never caught the guy and I’m sure the 911 is now in some container on a ship headed to Russia or Dubai. Unfortunately Russian mobs are more and more controlling the crime world in the US.

I wrote it before: wouldn’t you want all 40 year old look that good?

I dunno, looks kind of tired to me. Same old, same old, over and over again. 911 fans are weird people - they want the same styling all the time.

Not to mention the obvious but do we really need pics? I mean really? Has the 911 changed THAT much since its inception in 1964?

I guess that can be a good thing and a bad thing… car never looks like anything special, but then you could have a 90’s 911 and mistake it with a 2009

Z06, the corvette also looks pretty much the same shape since the 80’s. Porsche is sticking to a formula that works. Just the fact that a small company like Porsche can afford to purchase VW shows that Porsche knows exactly what its doing, and its building cars that the whole world desires.

When I grow up I want to be a Porsche stylist. Maybe in my spare time I could work on my full scale toothpick recreation of the Hindenburg.

Z06ified, I’m just happy they went back to the classic headlights. The odd teardrop-shaped ones were epic fail. But really all comments above are right; you mess with a good thing too much and can really screw it up. My CTO had two M3s and was planning on his next lease to be a third, but didn’t like the direction BMW was going. So now he has a 997 Turbo. Can’t really go wrong. :)

Thats true… Love the reflective stripe between rear-lights. I really don’t have to say anything but this car is an Icon, if you stop and think what a car needs to be an icon of this class then you know how great it is. The best part it still being one of the best on its class. What I’m saying is that it still exists as an icon, not like other icons that died or get ****ty; Mustang, Ferrari GTO, Charger, Shelby Cobra, (…A lot more) all of those were icons; they’re dead or became really poor now

.
There’s no substitute and there’ll never be, just because this car has a whole class for its own; has no direct competition.

I wish that the Corvette had the same styling from the 60’s… just massaged to look more modern, like the 911.

Then it wouldn’t be so ****ty looking and have a Cavalier-esque interior. Then the exterior would match how good its power train is.
