GT2 needs 3.7 to 100km/h (60mph) and 36.2 to 300km/h (186 mph).

nickkop , this is the 997 facelift , it’s not the 998.

JPizzzle , no one is forcing you to get the red interior.

stop comparing 0-60 times with the GTR , the GTR has shorter gear ratios , it gets fast to 60 mph , but that’s it , the first 997 turbo needs 40 seconds to 300 km/h , the GTR needs 53 seconds to get to 300 km/h, that’s 13 seconds slower.

btw i love the GT-R , but still favor the older R34 models, especially the 2005 NISMO GT-R Z-Tune (extremely limited edition) (rebuild) models…

and this 998 Turbo is amazing! I don’t think i could decide between the 6-speed manual and the PDK!! The new PTV will be amazing! Let’s see this against a 2011 GT-R!! ( I wonder if Nissan will offer any upgrades)

soravia, i believe you are incorrect. The GT-R had sequential turbocharging tech since – at least- the 1999-2002 (R34), and possibly 1996-1998.5 (R33) model. The RB26DETT’s and RB25DETT turbo inline-6’s always had more common port fuel injection tech, but never direct injection, and the JDM GT-Rs’ engines/drivetrains are identical to all of their export models.

Would make for a nice daily driver.

I still think the best 911 is the 993 turbo. Has the cleanest lines, short overhang, big arse whale tail. Love it!

…and they still can’t get the interior right! That hidious red makes me want to throw up! However, EXTREMELY nice car and it is amazing that 500 horses can hit 21 mpg. Looking forward to seeing these on the streets!

I wonder when Nissan will put their Direct Injection Turbo from JDM models into the GT-R. They had it since early 2000’s in JDM Skyline and make quite a bit more power compared to non-direct injection engines.
The GT-R already makes something around 550 HP, their 480 HP rating is something that goes to all 4 wheels.

rightwing in my 2009 grt which was upgraded to the 2010 spec to use the lunch control you put everything in race mode then step on the gas and the break at the same time. it now only revs to 3500 but it is faster then the old lunch control.

also anderson the Porche will cost $40000 more then what i payed for my gtr, and i can easly upgrade my gtr to get 550 hp at the wheels for $10000 which will then be sure to kill the new turbo

Don’t even compare a Z06 or GTR to this beast. Porsche claims 0-62 in 3.4 and everyone knows their numbers are very conservative. That means this thing is actually doing 0-60 in 3.0. Nissan had to open its big mouth and try to pin Porsche in the corner over their GTR…and this is how quick Porsche responds…this new Turbo will slam the GTR in the ground and now it will take the Japs another 10 years to respond.

BTW….not sure if anyone read the recent Car and Driver, but the new Boxster S they tested ran 0-60 in 4.3, right on par with the Corvette but by far will out handle the Vette. Porsche claims 0-60 in 5.0 on their website which Car and Driver commented is typical of Porsche’s conservative approach to performance numbers. The new direct injection engines combined with the launch control and PDK is really proving to improve the numbers of the 911, Cayman, and Boxster….Impressive I must say!

^^^Corvette Z06 is sweet ride, but it just doesn’t make your heart pound when you see it, as does a Porsche. Maybe it’s because you don’t see as many. I guess you pay a price to have an exclusive car.

Wolfside…correct me if I’m wrong, but it was my understanding that there IS NO launch control in the 2010 GTR…they just took it out. Kinda lame. Of course I still love the GTR and would definately buy one if I had that kind of money laying around. For now, my 350Z will have to do!

05z88Path the 2010 spec GTR no longer have any problem using the lauch control and its free to upgrade a 09 to 10 spec’s and it still does 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds

Looks ugly and old but it’s one hell of a beast. Gas prices? I own a few $200k cars but still care about not having to fill gas so often, not so much about the cost of the fuel itself…

johnny, I know it just seems strange to advertise fuel economy as a selling point in high end sports cars. If you can afford the car, who cares about the gas price.

It’s just weird, like if Toyota starting advertising the 0-60 times or high speed handling for the new Prius. Not what the market segment cares about obviously……Porsche owners probably don’t care if they’re getting 21mpg or 18, but maybe they do what do I know…….

Bosley, all it has to do is pass that test… once. The real world matters not. I doubt however many were putting off the purchase of a new 911 Turbo until that historic milestone was reached.
