I've always liked the lines of the Porsche 928, and of course the nice sound of the German 5.0 litre V8 engine. Some day I'd like to own one, even when the price of gasoline goes beyond $7/gallon (which it will).

hmm its nice to see an old friend back, but does it any gaps? The Boxster is the entry level convertible. The Caymen is the entry level coupe (an amazing one to boot). You have the Cayenne Suv. The soon to be Four Dour coupe, the Panamera. And the iconic 911 with all of its variants. So it sounds as if they do make it, they are going to have to make it either below the Caymen or above the regular 911. I have doubts it would be placed above the 911 because Porsche tried to power down the Caymen to avoid replacing the iconic car, so why would they do it now? And since its 2+2 seating, isn't that just a shorter Panamera thats due to come out? Perhaps the two are the same car?

The 928 was ahead of its time and they still look good.

They are expensive to maintain. Evey time the hood opens it is at least a grand.

The 928 and 911 were both dream cars of mine when I was a child and I still love both of them. The 911 is still the classic. The 928, however, has faired better than I would have thought over time. It still looks good today (if you can find a good preowned example)

The more models Porsche diversifies with the better they will remain an independent company. After the Panamera and GT "928 Coupe" they need to develop a BMW 3 series competator and compact SUV to compete with the X3. Since they now own 25% of VW platform sharing makes this a natural.

I would love to see the 928 return. My '88 928 S4 is the best handling car that I have ever driven. I can't even imagine what a new model would be like, but I'd have to bet it would be amazing. It would be nice to see Porsche come out with something that you could drive daily, but with V-12 Ferrari performamce.
Lastly...Keep the pop-up headlights! Don't let the "shark" die.

The original 928 has yet to date. The looks were/are fabulous. I hope any new 928 looks like the original and doesn't have a 911-esque front end like all the other models

I think fewer models in their line-up would be better for the brand image. But more models means more sweetness from Porsche. I don't know what to think.

Nice. I always like the 928. Although, I wonder if Porsche isn’t adding too many models too quickly…
