Porsche has released pictures of its Cayman S Porsche Design Edition 1, set to debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The limited-edition Cayman, of which only 777 examples will be built, arrives for the 35th anniversary of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche’s original Porsche Design chronograph.

The Design Edition Cayman will be finished in black, inside and out, is lowered 10mm and wears 19 inch wheels borrowed from the 911 Turbo. Accents on the doors, hood, roof, and rear deck are done in matte black. Interior trim includes the use of black Alcantara. All cars come with a briefcase loaded with a chronograph, pen, sunglasses, knife, and keyring. The Porsche Design Edition 1 goes on sale in Germany in November with U.S. sales starting in January of 2008. U.S. pricing has yet to be released.

Upgraded engine = 911 territory
it needs to be LIGHTENED UP for an RS version.

Porche should pack it up and go home. This stupid car has nothing on a Chevy Aveo Sport, or a Lambda. Dumb germans need to learn the hard way. Buy this and in 15 months after it breaks down 30 times you’ll be beggin me to take it as a trade plus plopping 10k down on a Cobalt.

It looks more like the ‘Adidas Edition.’
Could you remove the side stripes with a hair dryer and some patience?

This car is much nicer looking than the regular Cayman S but needs its weight to be lowered and should get a power boost. Only 777 will be produced so I think increasing the power, which is what owners want is the right thing to do. Too bad Porsche won’t.

Solstice and Sky wipe the floor with this POS. If not in performance, in reliability, quality and durability. Get a clue folks.

Yeah, A4… agree with you completely. Man, that 1487_GM_SALES is such an idiot. No sane person would compare a Saturn with a Porsche.

I’ve driven a Solstice. But in no way would I take it over a Porsche. Come on, that’s just silly :D

Chicks don’t like black cars so they’re not going to buy this. It needs to be “Pansy Pink”.

I’d rather have a ferarri.

How about all you guys turn out some maturity and ignore Gm_Sales…

I was hoping for some performance upgrades from Porsche, although this is a really nice package, I’m sure they will all be babied in a garage for years to come.

I’m all for more Cayman models, like a lightweight RS, a turbo GT2, and a racing GT3, but this “Limited Edition” model borders on the edge of ridiculosity. What the Cayman needs is a bigger engine, a limited slip differential, and normal (non-crippled) gearing. And what does Porsche AG give us? Black paint and leather. Porsche AG has got to be the most arrogant, non-responsive, car company in the world.

@LightSpeed: name a cheaper car that outruns AND outhandles a 911.

Lightspeed, you’re a ****ing moron of the highest order. IT’s not horsepower to dollars, you jackass, otherwise people would be singing the praises of a ****ty Mustang GT. THink about that one if you can stop masturbating long enough.

Morons come a dime a dozen these days. Why don’t you fools (and you know who you are) barrow a suit from your local cleaner and go into a Porsche dealer, pretend you can afford a preowned Cayman and take it for a test drive. Then post your comments.
