Porsche-based Rinspeed Imola, Indy 4S unveiled

09/25/2006, 10:15 AM

By admin

Customizer Rinspeed has created an appearance package for the Porsche Cayman to create what it calls the Rinspeed Imola. The car features an orange color scheme, low front skirt, carbon air intakes, new side skirts, and rear apron with a carbon diffuser insert. The kit also includes an upgraded exhaust system and five-spoke aluminum wheels. The interior is enhanced by a sporty “F1″ steering wheel, aluminum shift knob, aluminum pedals sets, emergency brake lever as well as velour floor mats. Meanwhile, Rinspeed has also unveiled a kit for the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 or Carrera 4S. Called the Indy 4S, the car gets new front, rear, and side skirts, plus 20″ alloy wheels. Suspension is lowered by about an inch, and a full exhaust system adds performance headers, metal catalytic converters and rear mufflers. Gallery after the jump…

I dont want it unless the girl comes as a standard feature. She should also be able to cook me breakfast :) . Oh yea, the car is pretty slick too.

You can have the girl. Her face doesn’t look enticing at all. Oh yeah, you can have the car too!! I’ll take the Torino styled Porche over this any day:

This car is more beautiful than the girl. :)

^ you mean the gayman right? The car is slow, ugly, and the only thing it has going for it is the fact that it handles well. Other than that, its for people that cant afford a true 911.

Well, honestly…. What is the point of a Cayman? A hard top Boxster? No doubt this car strikes a cord with Porsche-o-philes, it’s a Porsche. It’s nice looking, has decent performance, but nothing that would cause me to salivate. If I wanted German and performance, I would purchase the M3 versus this.

Endurancevm, you ARE ignorant if you think that adding power is more difficult than improving a car’s handling. The Cayman will eventually be a better-handling Porsche than the 911.

Any pinhead can add power…

its been said over and over…there is a big difference between a fast car and a fast driver.

I still just dont get these Cayman = Gayman comments – I just have no clue why anyone would think this car is girly or gay in any way.

First of all, the Hardtop variant of ANY convertible is ALWAYS less gay than its droptop sister as the hardtop is for enthusiasts that appreciate less weight, better rigidity/handling and less “look at me.”

Secondly, the Cayman looks better and more aggressive to me than almost any 911(not including 997s). In fact, it reminds me of a 911 Turbo, a ‘92 Speedster, the Boxster/986 and Carrera GT all in one clean, smooth, unique package/shape.

And if a Cayman S keeps up fine with a 997 around the Ring, I’m sure it would keep up with the fine e46 M3 as well…yes the new e92 M3 will have way more hp but as Noviscious pointed out, true sports cars are more about BALANCE than outright POWER (to me anyway)…

Who the hell is their photog? Those shots are incredible, they make the car look like a toy. Gimme, gimme.

And those wheels are fantastico.

Oh btw, to anyone that think the Porsche handles well: The Z06 beats the 997Turbo around the ‘ring as well as the GT3…just thought i would let you guys know. Also the standard corvette with the Z51 performance handling package is faster than the caymanS around the track(watch top gear anyone?). So in conclusion, not only is the corvette faster in a straight line, cheaper, better looking, but it also whoops the CaymanS around the track.

I like Porsches, i just dont like the Cayman…its a joke, gap filler.

Endurance, I didnt realize this was a “Corvette is better than Porsche thread” – my apologies. Since you “like Porsches” but hate the Cayman/Gayman, what is your view on the Boxster? (And the Cayenne?)…

Lets recap who won the last Le Mans? C6R methinks? Maybe Porsche were better back then but not now. The Cayenne is ugly and the boxster is slow. The only good cars Porsche has is the Carrera GT, GT3, and Turbo…nothing else.

Last time I checked, Porsche didn’t make Corvettes.

1 of my friends drives an e46 M3 Coupe and another a Boxster S – this summer we took them both up to the local Mountain together which runs from 7000ft to 10000+ with wild turns etc just like any ski basin road. All I can say is the Boxster S kept up JUST FINE with the M the entire way up and even more so on the way down so again it might lack HP in comparison to an M3 or C6 but it is certainly not “slow.” (And the ‘Ring will favor a higher HP car like a 400hp C6 vs a 275hp CaymanS due to its lengthy straightaways)…

Anyway, Endurance you claim the C6 and Z06 Corvette are the best cars in every respect – performance, looks and price. If a Corvette is TRULY so superior, then why can’t you explain to me one simple thing: why do I have absolutely NO desire to drive or own one?

Further, if it is the “best” car and is truly so superior, then how will other manufacturers stay in business? If what your saying was true, GM would be the only sports car manufacturer as according to you it makes the single best, cheapest, fastest and most attractive sports car. If one Bank “TRULY” offered the lowest mortgage rates, there’d be no need or demand for any other Lenders/Banks and the rest would all soon fail….so are saying GM will be the last sports car maker standing?? If that is the case in 5-10 years, it would be one hell of an irony!

You know Enduracnce, you could just say that you don’t like Caymans…or that you like corvettes better. And why not? They’re cool, I like them. I don’t know any more about cars than I did yesterday, and I’ve taking your points into consideration before. But, I still love Caymans, and I still want one.
