More than two years before the official presentation we have caught the all-new Porsche Boxster testing around the famed Nurburgring in Germany. As with most Porsche models, we expect the Boxster new styling to be more evolutionary rather than evolutionary.
Although it might look like the current model at first sight, upon closer inspection, one can see that every panel – and the canvas top – are all new. The new model will also be significantly lighter than the current car, with the promise that the 2011 Boxster will be the “most economical Porsche ever.”
We don’t have powerplant information yet, but we’re counting on both “Boxster” and “Boxster S” offerings. However, early reports suggest the Boxster will make the switch to a four-cylinder engine with forced induction a distinct possibility.
This next-generation Boxster is scheduled to be launched at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

Lighter weight and a forced induction four: sounds like a recipe for fun. I hope that means that the price point would drop.
Note to the author: I think the last line in the first paragraph should read, “evolutionary rather than revolutionary.”

I hope they won’t wreck the exceptional driving feeling of the current model.

I love the Boxster, as well as I own one I have to say that, though I’d trade it everyday for a 911 I’m positive that the Boxster (With matching color hardtop) turns more heads than the great Carrera.
I hope the last line in the first paragraph reads “evolutionary rather than revolutionary” rather than “revolutionary rather than evolutionary” because though Porsche is a hate or love manufacturer, if you love it once, you’ll love it forever; they never exaggerate the factions and they make them as they should.
Obviously this opinion comes from a guy that likes them and think they worth it so, now I let all you Corvette lovers say that Porsche sucks and I’m an idiot.

Oh come now, A4. When the 997 first debuted, I thought the same thing. But now, when I look at a 997, I can see vast differences, and a much more modern look, than in the previous gen 996. I think the same is true of the current iteration boxter versus the previous model. Porsche has never been one to reveal wildly dramatic changes, so why would you expect anything different?

You can always count on Porsche’s designs to look similar to the previous generation. Likewise, you can count on LLN using the phrase “evolutionary rather than revolutionary” in almost every article they “write” about new Porsches.

They managed a pretty significant jump from the 993 Carrera to the 996 Carrera. Yes you can see differences but rarely is it much more than a bit of resurfacing or reshaping of the headlights and taillights. And boy did they manage to truly screw up the Cayenne with a simple facelift. I love first gen Cayenne Turbo’s, the face is attractive, and the body is fluid and solid, having creases in the right places and looking thick where it needs to. The new Cayenne Turbo may have a decent face, but the rest of the body is awfully overtweaked and there are obnoxious little notches and cuts where they really should not be/don’t need to be. As for the faces of the Cayenne S and V6 models… well those have always been terribly hideous, but at least the rest of the body was attractive. The GTS.. yeah it has a Turbo face, but the rest of that body kit looks like something they bought at Napa.
