Porsche Cayman Aerokit revealed

02/26/2007, 4:17 PM

By admin

Porsche has announced a new Aerokit package for the Cayman and Cayman S sports cars. The package consists of add-on spoiler lips for the standard front-end apron panel and a new, fixed rear spoiler.

Designed by engineers at the Porsche Development Center in Weissach, the Aerokit gives the Cayman even more “bite” and even sportier looks. The Aerokit’s components, optimized in Porsche’s wind tunnel, reduce lift at the front and rear axles, making the car even more stable at high speeds. The aerodynamic components have been carefully matched and must therefore only be installed as a complete set.

Porsche supplies this Aerokit on all international markets. In Germany, it can be ordered via Porsche Exclusive for 3,500 Euros (excluding value-added tax) for installation on a new car. For later customization, it will be available starting in March 2007 from Porsche Tequipment for 2,950 Euros.

I am just fine with the way my Cayman S looks right now, thank you very much. Especially if I need to shell out ~6k USD!

With the 28K profit per car, you know they are making $5900 off these kits…

Those 2 plastic add-ons are not worth anything near $6000. I’d shell out $5800, but not 6k. For that price id expect for them to extend the warranty.

Man, I love Caymans.

Euros aren’t worth twice as much as dollars are they? Where’s this 6 thousand figure coming from? Correct me if I’m wrong…

Wow, spoilers, I’m thrilled. Do love the Cayman though, I’ll take mine without the sprinkles please, but only once I’m bored of trying to fit my luggage into the S2000.

Porsche has taken its US marketing strategy from Harley-Davidson. Overcharging for what is essentially crapola bling.

Is this the German version of “Let them eat cake”? What the Cayman needs is an entire engine upgrade, not some superficial exterior changes!

WTF? $6K for body kit… I’d rather get a Blancpain, Breguet or Rolex and complete the showoff package.

I see. There probably won’t be labor costs if you get it on a new car though. But probably for later installation, and that one costs 2,950 euros. Still, anywhere in the area of 6k is too expensive for my blood.
