I would rather see them make more of a distinction between this car and the Boxster. Perhaps not a convertable, a targa at most. Keep it simple.

If Porsche built a light wieght 2 seat mid-motor sports car like the 914 they would sell like hot cakes at the Church social. The Boxster is a close follower in the genarational evolution but comments about the heavy wieght, big price tag and lazy power keep the Younger male population at arms length. Porsche should have never abandoned the 914. It was truly short sighted. Porsche has been unwilling or unable to abandon their tired bar of soap styling ever since. If they do build a 914 replacement, my advise would be to keep it simple. No goofy ducts or funky grilles like the Lotus and the MR2.

I've always been a big fan of the 914, and I think there's a great market for a (I use this word loosely) no-frills roadster from Porsche... hopefully we'll see a concept!

Yes! It's time for Porsche to expand their line-up downmarket now that they are relatively secure financially. If done right, this kind of model could be highly successful, without diluting the Porsche brand. I wonder who much less expensive this car would be if it went into production.

This maybe heresy to Porsche people, but I also think they should get back into the front-engined game and produce a $40,000 competitor to the 350Z/G35 Coupe, 3-series coupe, etc.
