==>>even if it was all about 0-60times, a GTR wouldn't outrun a 911GT3 RS anyway because of that faulty launch control that rips the transmission apart. GTR is a rolling Playstation3. GT3 is the real sportscar. 'nuff said.

One of the first cars I drove was my father's 911 Turbo, and JoseCuervo, the GT-R can take any 911 or derivative to school when it comes to grip in poor conditions. Take a 911/GT2/GT3 for a spin in the rain, and you will take it for a spin literally -- a tiny tap on the breaks in slick conditions and the front end swaps with the back, leading with that engine weight. Watch a Cup race with Porsches in it and see how differently they go around the corners in the rain vs. the M3s and Jaguars. I'd like to see a Ring lap during a rainshower, that would sort the GT-R out from the Vettes and Porches and M5s (and Cobalts). That being said, I'd rather be in the Porsche anyday -- however, you can buy two GT-Rs for the price of a GT3 and have enough left over to tune them up to surpass it.

Bankruptcy2009

0-60 times are impressive and all but that is relatively unimportant when you're driving around a track. This car is meant to grip, it's all about handling.

100kph is 60 mph folks. The last gen RS did 0-60 in under 4 seconds, this will be the same. Manufacture estimates are ALWAYS conservative. "Under promise, over deliver."

I agree with SloW8 on this one. While I haven't driven either car, I have certainly been exposed to quite a few professional opinions of them. The GT-R is for tuner kids who like to go fast while the Porsche is for automotive enthusiasts. There is more to a sports car then just straigh line performance. It has to have some finese to it.

Banruptcy2009 - A sports car is not all about straighline speed. I would argue that many would consider a Lotus Elise/Exige the most pure sports car on the road yet they struggle to break 4.5 to 60. Nissan has a way to go before they make a car that drives like a Porshce. Porsche has spent 70+ years making sports cars. Nissan has spent 35 years making family sedans. Just because it performs like a Porsche doesn't mean it drives like a Porsche.

I'll take one in orange with black stripes and black wheels. Severely gaudy I know but for this type of car, that's quite alright. Spec V vs this would be a great race. I'd rather be in the Porsche though. This is about as close to a track-ready car only as you can get, what a thrilling ride this would be. Just to hear that engine rev makes my hair stand up!

I've had the chance to thrash on a GT-R and a 997 GT3 RS. The GT-R is super fast but it is not nearly as enjoyable to drive as the Porsche. The fan boys can love the GT-R all they want but it is an appliance. (It may be a fast appliance but it is still an appliance) The Porsche is truly an enthusiasts automobile.

That is just plain slow for a Sports car not even 4 seconds. If it can't match a GT-R's 3.1 Sec 0-60 acceleration it does'nt belong in the sports car category anymore.
