Spy photographers have spotted a facelifted Porsche 911 GT3 RS prototype out testing on the roads of Germany, just outside of the Nürburgring. In addition to the new LED lighting that will be applied across the 911 range, this GT3 RS gets a new, cleaner front bumper design, with larger intakes at the corners.
This prototype maintains the RS trademarks like the competition-spec roll-bar, lightweight fixed rear wing, and thinner glass for further weight savings.
A new rear bumper design is also in the works, sculpted to bring a bit more attention to the GT3 RS’ center-mounted exhaust tips.
Visual changes aside, we can’t help but wonder what changes might lie within. Is more power on tap to battle the Nissan GT-R V-Spec? With the Lexus LF-A, Nissan GT-R V-Spec and now the Porsche GT3 RS joining the parade at the ‘Ring, things just got a little interesting.

Why do always ricers have to say “will run rings around” when they compare a car that is either not real (like an 800 hp drive-able FWD Civic) or one that nobody has facts about (ex: Lexus LFA) with a true car, tested on a real world circuit, by real drivers with real skills!
On topic:
I don’t think this is meant to compete with the GTR…

Most can compare this car to others by the numbers they see on paper. I’ve been in this on the race track. Trust me, it’s ****ing amazing.

I have a friend who races Porsches. He took me on a ride one day. Holy cow, I’ve never felt anything like that, and by todays standards this car was slow! He didn’t even have a turbo on that 911. Man that was a fun day…

This thing’s not going to come anywhere near the V-Spec without some serious modifications.
I’m too lazy to check, but I believe the GT3’s ring time is even slower than the Z06 and GTR’s…?

I can also tell from here, that the glass is thinner than usual.
Another day, another boring Porsche.

Why there is a slot in front of the boot ( cant call it a trunk in front of a car)? Do they intend to air cool luggage? For the past 40 years Porsche looked just like that, except in Risky Business, and there is nothing wrong with that. Except in Risky Business young Cruise fooled most of us about not being gay.

The Nissan GT-R is no doubt a fast car, and happens to be a few ticks faster then a 911 Turbo, but man is that Nissan a ****ing ugly piece of rice. I still laugh at the rice fans out there who think rice cars have the heritage, experience and longevity to match European sports cars. With the exception of the GT-R, name one car in the last 10 years from the land of rice that can truelly compete with the high-end European sports cars…and don’t say the NSX because that car hasn’t been considered a real threat since 1995 to European cars. Let’s not kid ourselves, Porsches have been for many years and will be for many years one of the best sports cars built…if not the best mass produced sports car. I’ve owned one and can tell you that no rice car has the sporty driving characteristics of a Porsche. In fact, read the latest comparison in Road & Track testing the GT-R against the Z06 and 911 Turbo. At the end of the article, two of the test drivers and even said, with money being no object, the Porsche still excudes what a true sports car should be and is ultimately more fun to drive then the GT-R. Nissan may barely beat the Porsche on the track this year, but all you rice fans, you can bet that crown won’t be worn more then a year or two before Porsche puts them back in the ground. The same way the NSX only lastest a couple years as a serious competitor to Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, etc., this GT-R will have the same shelf-life. Thank you Nissan for spending tons of money raising the bar so a better company like Porsche will build better and dominate for another 40 years.

Hey anderson_b76… with all the years of combined racing history and experience dont you think that Ferraris and Porsches are in a much better position to create the “ultimate supercar”? Then why is that Nissan came out as underdogs and created something that has been kicking the ass of 911 Turbos and F430 all over the place?
How did Nissan manage a dual-clutch gearbox that can manage all that torque without blowing the clutch plates? With just 473 HP, you get 0 - 60 times of 3.4s? If you credit it to all wheel drive, how did they get over issues like the car bogging down after the first gear change? How did they solve or get over the extra weight issues of AWD?
The Nissan GT-R is no mean feat of absolute engineering perfection.. It has the heritage, the competence and the pure charisma to pull off the practical supercar tag…
And if this did bring Porsche and Ferrari out of its slumber to create offshoot RS and FXX models with even bigger price tags… well, competition is a good thing. I say, bring it on!

Regardless of what any of these down in the mouth dullards are saying, you can’t hate on a Porsche. A proclaimed love for this new GT-R is based on the fact that it’s perceived as somehow more attainable than a Porsche (which it isn’t) and an offhanded chance that they might actually own one someday (which they won’t). A Nissan will never, ever touch Porsche either in the big picture or in history. Numbers be damned.

I’m sure the performance is great, but I would never buy one because: 1) It’s the same old tired 911 styling, and 2) it still looks like an evolved VW Super Beetle.
