1.1% is spent on border security, keeping existing policies coherent with each other and “justice”, a very general label that the EU seems to enjoy using. I’m not saying the EU is bad; neither am I saying theres anything wrong with any countries in the union, that’s up to you to come to. What I am saying is the EU isn’t necessary with the enormous budget they currently have. I see it as ridiculous spending on change that could be made with the passing of a pen. The steps that have to be taken to even implement a program in the EU is ridiculous; approved at local level, state level, then at the EU, scheduled, reviewed. I wouldn’t doubt it if most of those fees were just from dicking around. Even more programs in both the European Union, and Euro countries themselves have no backing by the people of Europe in the first place. Since we’re on a car website, just look at the London congestion charge, currently it has an extremely low approval rate, not even to mention the low turn-out rate. I’m curious why the London Congestion Charge is bragging about some of the highest amounts of turn-out this year when the core goal was to reduce traffic.

I don’t care if the bananas or cucumbers are curved or straight (a popular Euromyth based on British tabloid distorted version of real EU legislation on import quality regulations). But I appreciate that the flushing works and I don’t get my hands burned by hot water while in Britain – sure, EU has nothing to do with that. It just created the environment, better design won. That’s better for individuals and businesses and supports innovation. That is why rappers, supermodels, tennis players and national governments are ditching dollar reserves and/or dollar stuffed suitcases and replacing them with Euro.

kitko- And so you think the EU, a program with a budget of nearly 200 billion U.S. dollars where only 1% of their funds go to all that you just mentioned (border control and smooth cohesion of policies, securities, “justice”), is necessary?

And that 1% was meant to be taken literal. Just take a quick glance at the revised budget, but hey, it’s not my money. I wonder when Dalia Grybauskaite says “you matter to her”, if she means your opinion to her dicking around the bush, or your chump change.

I hate to say it but this puts the big companies that have econo cars as part of their lineup at a huge advantage as it allows them to produce the bohemoth monster engine sports cars. Sports cars and SUVs are all Porsche makes now and thier fleet average for fuel efficiency is not that great. I do not want to see a Porsche Prius.

Let’s have look at the EU.
I don’t need a passport to travel accross the EU, there are no border controls inside the EU, I don’t have to get a new/local driving licence anytime I move to another country, in most cases, I can work and live where-ever I wish, my car is always conforming, I don’t have to pay custom and other cross border duties for shopping around and my warranty will be always honoured. My medical insurance is valid in any EU country by default. Manufacturers need to obtain only one certficate/licence for 27 countries instead of 27 of them. If I happen to be in a country where my government doesn’t have an embassy, I can ask for help on any of the remaining 26 embassies.

What’s more, toilets in Britain are finally begin to flush properly as more advanced “European” design is gaining popularity on the Islands, mixing water taps are finally replacing ancient Victorian design with two separate outlets for hot and cold water, I can go shopping to London and pay 40 dollars for a return air ticket and, for the same amount, Britons can get cheap boobs and booze (order is reversible) in Central Europe.

Europeans screwed the pooch when they relinquished sovereignty to these power-happy jackasses.
