A convertible version of the Porsche Panamera sedan has been rumored for some time now, but there has been little in the way of concrete evidence to indicate such a program was underway. However, thanks to some alleged patent drawings leaks, we might have our first look at the Panamera convertible.
Several alleged patent drawings of the Porsche Panamera have surfaced on the Web over the last few days, but most looked like little more that poorly done Photoshop jobs. However, we’ve discovered a few images that might actually be the real deal.
The first set of drawings shows a more conventional convertible setup, albeit with the Panamera convertible retaining the sedan’s rear doors. When reports of an open air Panamera first surfaced, they outlined a two-door setup, but the retention of the four-door layout could further separate the Panamera convertible from the 911 convertible.
The second set of drawings also shows a four-door body style, but appears to ditch the conventional convertible top for a T-top arrangement. This setup would seem to make sense as it would help the convertible Panamera retain some structural rigidity while still opening the cabin to the outside world.
It remains to be seen if a convertible version of the Panamera will ever make productions, but if the project is on the production track, don’t expect such a vehicle to hit dealer showrooms until at least 2012.
