It’s been a few years in the making but the Porsche Panamera has finally entered production at the automaker’s Leipzig plant. Moreover, Porsche has officially re-opened the Leipzig plant to the public, offering two-hour tours at no charge.
Appropriately, the Panamera shares a production line with the Cayenne SUV. The Panamera four-door sedan and Cayenne SUV are widely regarded as Porsche’s two most controversial models.
The Leipzig plant has been under construction for the last two years in preparation for Panamera production. The new-look factory now boasts an additional 22,000 square meters of plant space.
In addition to plant tours, the Leipzig plant also offers pilot or co-pilot programs, allowing visitors to take a Porsche Cayenne out on the plant’s race track or off-road proving grounds. Reservations for either event can be made online.
