Amid slumping sales, Porsche is said to be considering reducing production of its 911 Carrera model. The proposed plan would see Porsche idling the 911’s Zuffenhausen, Germany production plant around the Christmas holiday.

Porsche ’s sales have tumbled 28 percent in recent month, causing a backlog of inventory. In order to better align supply with demand, a Porsche official revealed to Reuters that the German automaker is considering a reduction in 911 production.

“We have to think about this if car sales continue to develop like this and do not recover again,” the source said.

Porsche’s Zuffenhausen factory has been idled for 11 unplanned days since January, with a previously unscheduled 19 day shutdown now in place for the company’s summer break. It remains unclear how many days Porsche is considering shuttering the 911 plant for during the Christmas holiday.

Porsche’s other factories are expect to continue unaffected by the Zuffenhausen plant’s shutdown.
