After yesterday’s ousting of now-former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking, the German sports car manufacturer has announced that production chief Michael Macht will take over as CEO and former head of human resources Thomas Edig will serve as his deputy.
Wiedeking, who had opposed selling Porsche to Volkswagen , will receive a $71 million compensation.
Macht joined Porsche almost 20 years ago and, according to Reuters, is a close ally of Wiedeking. Macht’s background is in engineering and he was directly involved in the development of Porsche’s two most recent high-volume, but controversial, vehicles, the Cayenne and the Panamera.
