Porsche releases launch date, price for Limited Edition Boxster

Porsche announced today the launch date as well as pricing for their up-coming Limited Edition Boxster and Boxster S. The 500 Limited Edition Boxster and Boxster S models will hit showroom floors on September 28, 2007 throughout the U.S. and Canada with a starting price of $49,000 and $59,000, respectively.

Both the Limited Edition Boxster and Boxster S will be painted a striking orange, a color that was once reserved for only the track-ready GT3 RS, and will wear “Limited Edition” plaques on their glove boxes. Other Limited Edition perks will include a sport exhaust system, body-colored safety bars, and a SportDesign package that includes spoiler lips in the front, an automatically extending and redesigned rear spoiler and a modified rear trim with integrated diffuser that provides a sportier appearance.

To contrast with the orange exterior color, Porsche has added several touches of black. Both cars come with black rims, 18’s for the Boxster and 19’s for the Boxster S, as well as black exterior mirrors and air inlets. The black theme carriers into the interior with black seats, steering wheel (the same as found in the 911 GT3), carpet, dash and door panels. Alcantara is also used throughout the interior to give the cabin a sportier and more up-scale feel. Pictures to follow.

I’ve never been a fan of bright colors on vehicles, but this looks great.

i don’t care much when automakers do these “limited edition” models. typically all they are are a few custom aesthetic pieces. i say a TRUE limited edition model should have a bigger badder, engine, suspension, tranny…something with some actual performance value.

^^^ I agree with younggun. Tweak the engine, suspension, exhaust and then the body and THEN call it limited edition. OH and let us pick our own color thanks!

I agree with younggun.
This is more like the designer version of the Boxster. Slap some more labels on the car, paint it an obnoxious color and make only a few to be sold at a higher price. I’m sure this car will be a hit with all the louis vuitton carrying sorority sisters looking to buy a designer boxster with daddys credit card.

It would be better if everything were black.

Cool, this is really sweet. Gotta love the Boxster, my favorite in its class of course, and this only adds some perks to that choice.

This is a cool looking Boxster but like many have stated, the car should have including a major boost in power and performance and not just some minor cosmetic changes.

As a rule when a car maker releases a ‘limited edition’ such as this, they are trying to pick up lagging sales.
The Limited Edition badge on the inside reminds of some package a Chevy dealer would throw on a Cobalt.

Another special edition for the chick market. And yet a Solstice will still smoke it (If you’re not in the shop waiting for another repair).

Save your money ladies and just buy a Miata. And make sure to keep your tow truck handy, you’ll need it.

Limited Edition gets you about $3000 dollars in additional accesories, all of which don’t really make it a better ride. Throw in a 911 engine with 325 ponies, and now your talking “Limited Edition.”

^ Agreed, a small bump in HP would be appreciated to truly differentiate the car.

they shouldnt increase the HP just gecrease the weight and make an RS version. But more HP wouldnt hurt. but then it might take sales away from the base 911. They should just strip like the elise.
