The start of the 2011 North American International Auto Show is only two weeks away, but if German media is to be believed, Porsche may have let slip news of an entirely new supercar with seriously impressive specifications.

According to a pair of German outlets, including Bild and German Car Blog, Porsche has prepared a new supercar that will debut in Detroit, complete with a twin-turbocharged V8 – producing an impressive 600 horsepower.

Top speed for this car is a reported 186 miles per hour, following a sub-four second zero-to-62 sprint. The impressive acceleration and top speed are not only due to the reported 600 horsepower figure, but also thanks to the carbon-chassis helping to shed weight and add strength.

It is possible that this car will represent a coupe version of the 918 Spyder concept car, but if that is the case, the power figures would likely change as the 918 Spyder features a 500 horsepower V8, with the addition of electric motors for a total of 718 horsepower.

Not much else is known at this time, but stay tuned as details become available either leading up to, or during the Detroit Auto Show.
