Renton, Porsche is a business, the point of a business is to make a profit, they owe it to their shareholders, so there is not such thing as making too much profit on a car.

That needs repeating.

Porsche would destroy VAGs performance cars. Porsche may be a great sports car maker but they make too much money per vehicle. I am not against anyone making money, but Porsche charges too much for options that be standard. (e.g. xenon lights on a $75K car should be standard, not a $1900 option.)

I like Porsches, but I will never buy a new one and support this BS.

Uhhh your wrong Brocky!! Chrysler was doing quite well BEFORE MB ****ed with it! When I had a Concorde people actually stopped me and asked “what kind of car is that?” “who makes that?” So it would have been FAR better for Chrysler to take over MB and show those Germand retards how to more that bloated, over priced, snob-mobiles!!! As for VW…. Ha! I had a rabbit and the piece of **** broke down all the time. The same part would break every year without fail! That’ll be several hundread dollars sir! But still Porsche would be a good buy for them. Maybe help them LOWER the cost of there cars and make something more than an old out dated designs!

Because unlike Chrysler, VW actually sells and makes cars that are appealing to a lot of people. The Golf, the Jetta and the Bug for instance have been pretty popular for a while. Porsche would help improve almost everything about VW’s similar to what Audi did to Lamborghini or what BMW did to Mini. It would not make sense for a struggling company like a Chrysler to take over a great company like MB. And definitely wrong for VW to takeover arguably the best car company in the world in Porsche.

What I don’t get is why do they want VW? It’s like MB buying Chrysler, made no sense. Chrysler buying MB, now that would have made sense but that didn’t happen. So unless VW was going to take controll of Porsche then what is the point?

Wendelin Wiedeking, has nothing to worry about really, the EU is helping him in trying to get rid of Germany’s VW Law, so Porsche will eventually gain control of VW, this seems like a smokescreen.

There are some nice synergies between the two companies. Porsche often puts engines on the wrong end of its cars, and VW usually puts transmissions on the wrong end of its cars. Maybe they can pool their resources and develop a FWD, rear-engined automobile.
