Citing 'cultural shift,' Porsche discontinues last diesels

The company has stopped building the Macan S Diesel and Panamera 4S Diesel.

Porsche has apparently discontinued its last two diesel models as parent Volkswagen Group continues its pivot toward electrification.

Citing a "cultural shift" among its customers, the company has stopped building the Macan S Diesel and Panamera 4S Diesel, a spokesperson confirmed to Autocar.

Aside from waning demand for oil burners, the company also admitted the decision was also related to "another software update" and ongoing talks with authorities. The comments are viewed as evidence that the automaker has decided not to invest in further development necessary to keep the fleet in compliance with stricter emissions regulations.

A Porsche executive recently confirmed plans to launch a second all-electric model following the Mission E, expecting half of the brand's sales to come from electrified models by 2025. The second EV is rumored to be an SUV similar to the Macan.
