This car is what EVERY domestic, V8, RWD loving person has wanted. A reasonably priced, nice sized, high performance RWD vehicle for those of us that don’t want / can’t get a $50k Bimmer.

I think that Holdens are decent cars, but I really like my Grand Prix as is. For under 20K my base GP is great! Some options that would be cool (and differnet for the class) would be to add a full hatchback and AWD. A more potent engine could be added, but the supercharged 3800 has 260HP and 280FP so that works well. It is an old engine, but reliable as hell. I am from the snowbelt, RWD cars are not for me.

Building a car with a modern V8 on a RWD platform which is SO much more fun to drive than a FWD is the way to draw consumers. People want power, they want features, they want more control over gas mileage, and they want affordability. If Pontiac offers this with a RWD V8, heads up display, trip computers, stock amplified sound systems, displacement on demand, etc, all at prices in the range of GP’s over the last 5 years; people won’t compare the GP to the Camry, they’ll run right past it without even caring to take a look. That’s how you win in todays market, you have to turn heads and evoke passion, not try to be “best in class”. If you haven’t driven a fully loaded post 1997 grand prix, got out and drive one, then you’ll get it.

GM.Best value for where a person wants to put their money in comparison to certain other makes and their pricing.If a person is satisfied with the product(what that person wants the product to do)then for you to refute that is irrational and childish.I’ll feel better driving a G6 2 door than what you drive because the quality is proportional to the price, also, the look of the Pontiac 2 door G6 is a design masterwork.Chris Bangle is a design quack compared to the people who crafted the 2 door G6 shell. Oh yeah, because all the competition is scrambling to throw a lead weight V8 truck motor into a family sedan. Check your resale value on your Comp G tracey…

No wait, don’t because your in for a shock.

Again, rather than come up with a comptetive, competent V6 to win buyers over from the Camry and Accord, GM packs a freakin truck motor into it just to keep up. What that take a late night or two at the design center to come up with that bandaid?

Because everyone is clammoring for 300+ lb/ft of torque to the front wheels… Yet none of the competition is following GM’s lead on this. hmmmmmm wonder why?

I think the biggest question is why GM decided to pick Pontiac for it’s new RWD lineup including the bad ass 6.0 liter??? Because they know Pontiac enthusiasts want POWER. I dont see how many of you can knock a car that hasn’t even came out yet not to mention that if you’re already bashing on this possible car then you’re bashing on the Commodore. Can some of you even spell GXP, let alone explain it? Maybe next we can start bashing on the 6.0 liter that’s been around, oh a billion years.

GM….bring the Holdens over here AS-IS…….Don’t give them the lame old Pontiac kidney grills. Holden makes cars that are fun to drive, performance oriented, w/ high quality interiors. The GTO is a great example of a great car (Monaro) bastardized by the GMNA’s ultra conservative, and risk averse (meaning LAME) designers. Holdens (in their original form) are the BMW killers that GM needs if they want Pontiac to live up to it’s title as GM’s performance brand.

Just leave it alone, and bring it to the states.

He is a bit of a retard, but he’s nice, and the Sebring looks NOTHING like the 300C. This Holden does look like a TL and that is the problem. For twenty years the domestic cars have essentially looked like Japanese cars but bigger and with more chrome (2006 impala), ask the 60,000 unemployed people at ford and GM how that strategy has panned out.

2006300C , if a friend of yours thought a GTO looked like a Sunfire then apparently he’s a blind retard. All makes vehicles models will resemble each other. Toyotas all have similar girlles and appearnce as well as Honda’s, Chevys, ugly BMW’S and Chrysler. The new Sebring resembles the 300c and the new Stratus has the same grille style as the Charger. Its called brand image, so people know what it is. The Motor Honda Trend rendering of this car actually resembles an Acura TL a little. Sorry Honda people, I know all other cars insult your precious Honda believe everything you read minds.

This Holden is the best selling car in OZ, it has to be conservative, just like the Camry, accord etc. But over here this car will not attract attention from either import or LX/LY DCX intenders unless it has expressive Yankee brashness to attract them to the engineering and refinement found below the skin. When the Monaro /GTO arrived here my friends and I were driving past a GM dealership and one of them said “damn that’s a big Sunfire”. I knew it was over right then.

The GTO did not fail because it was a rebadged Holden, it failed cause they called it a GTO.

I think if they bring this over and don’t change much about it it could be a great car. This car could steal a lot of potential buyers from Mitsu, Subaru, and even BMW. Holden actually pays attention to small details, something GM (USA), is bad about… The side rockers, the molded in front lip, the fog lights, the side markers, the mesh grill, the blackout housings, the door handles, the tops of the side view mirrors, are all things that GM would have skimped on. (I know the sidemarkers won’t make it, “Wut er these here side lights fer anyway?”) Motor Trend should not start calling this a “muscle car”, and you guys are tools for saying it needs more camaro styling. This is a powerful, refined sports sedan. It looks good the way it is, let’s hope Pontiac doesn’t screw it up.
