Yesterday, Volkswagen released the first official design sketch of its Golf-based SUV, now known as the Tiguan. Germany’s Autobild has put together an illustration of the car, apparently based on VW’s sketches. The image appears on the cover of the latest issue of the magazine. See the cover after the jump…

It dosent look like any of the vehicles you just listed. Other than being a crossover SUV, thats about it.

Does this mean that Porsche is going to come out with a small SUV? That would be pretty cool. Figure 350-400HP for the Porsche S version?

That’s a sweet looking SUV. With high gas prices this is a nice small SUV. Hope the reliability will be up there too.

It looks nothing like that piece of **** Sky, and where do you get Murano from? I’m struggling to see RAV4 in there either.
If you said Touareg and Q7 and EOS you might have a little more credibility

I’d rather have this or an LR2 than that gawky looking Acura RDX or Wierd Honda CRV

The Touareg will be facelifted soon, I wonder if it will get any styling cues from this future Golf-based SUV, or even if the next generation Touareg.

Here in Europe, this SUV with the new 2.0 TDI 170hp VW-powerplant will be tough competition to BMW’s 2.0d X3.

VW should never have killed the MicroBus concept. Instead they did the boring routine of following into the SUV crowd rather than innovate.

They could have won.
