Predicting the Audi A5, A7 convertibles

09/05/2006, 11:17 PM

By admin

Germany’s Autobild magazine has published a series of new artist’s illustrations depicting the widely-anticipated 2008 A5 convertible and the more mysterious 2011 A7 cabriolet. The A5 coupe is expected to arrive some time next year, and a convertible variant is a certainty about twelve months later. Recent spy shots and the Nuvolari concept give us a good idea of how the coupe will look, and chopping off the roof isn’t much of a stretch. On the other hand, less is known about the larger A7. While many reports suggest the Mercedes CLS competitor will arrive for the 2010 model year as a four-door coupe, not much has been said about the proposed convertible variant. According to Autobild the car will retain the four-door configuration of its coupe counterpart, even offering reverse-opening rear suicide doors. Currently, Audi plans to make both the A5 and A7 soft-tops, rather than hard-top convertibles, the report says. [Images: A5 top down | A5 top up | A7 top down].

Funny how the backdrop of one of those photoshopped pictures is of the

It always happens that the car I want is always a car available in the near future.

They will be nice cars, but hardly stunning news is it?
There are not going to be any faster TTs than the RS version as that would take sales from the R8 and possibly even the Lambo Gallardo
