One of the funnier things I’ve noticed is that the civic is much loved by pensioners in the UK because of its good residuals and reliability, so now you see a lot of 70+ year olds trundling around in the new ones at 20mph. It’s like Buck Rogers meets Steptoe & Son Just goes to show what brand loyalty and perception can do once it gets a foothold in a demographic.

Me personally, I like sedans, so the 07 civic sedan si is looking pretty nice.
Or a WRX.

‘ricer’ is a term thrown at the vehicle, not the person. There is a difference between rice and import. Rice is a fart can and 3 foot wing atop an otherwise bone stock honda Fit. Import would be taking that same honda fit, and dropping the rear engine/transaxle from the NSX into where the back seat used to be.

ricer is absolutely not a racial or derougatory (sp) term.

Besides, all this ‘ricer ricer ricer blah blah blah wouldn’t touch it’ stuff is utter rubbish. Do you know how many tweaked 20 year old Truenos there are going sideways around the orbitals in Japan? Japanese tuners have always managed to make amazing machines out of whatever came to hand at the time and this dates back to way before certain people had ever decided that ‘ricer’ wasn’t an offensive term and started to throw it around at every opportunity.

FWD may not offer the same superior driving experience as RWD, but believe it or not some FWD’s are “sportier” than others. A Civic Si/Type R IS a performace car compared to Fit or Focus. God forbid anyone have a little fun on a small budget….

There are concearns about fuel efficency other than just the price. So what if gas goes back to a buck and change? Some people consider emissions and our dependancy on foreign oil. Just because a natural resource is cheap does not mean we should burn it if we can afford it – thats as selfish as it gets.

Actually I think it *looks* great. I’m not sure about the suspension but I’m definitely not happy with the engine. The Turbo K20 engine from the Acura RDX should be modified to see Type-R duty.

Problem is… we WANT a true Civic Type R, but probably not this one because it is still underpowered and too heavy to be a performance car in the FWD class.
