Could be built in Taiwan for all I care. I just know I want one. Can't believe how many panties are in twists over this car, or where it's built. Some here need to un-plug from the PC and go get outside from time to time.

DeanTJ, do me a personal favor and step in front of a speeding bus, will ya? The planet will be a better place for it. Or atleast this site would be. May your armpits be infested with the fleas of a thousand camels.

Peace.

WOW!! You would think that somebody would have had the good sense to pull the plug on this orange joke by now but I guess not. Guess we'll see if this is the car that gets the black ink flowing for them. My bet is that it won't!

They'd have to be idiots not to offer this car with a manual. If they can keep the interior from looking absolutely disgusting, and make it a classy type of retro like the Camaro, it'd be a toss-up which one I'd prefer.

I'm gonna' get one! I like "unrefined power". I like the retro look. The 425 hp with a real amount of TORQUE will be great as well. A manual tranny is just icing on the cake.

365 days not 356
the countdown is a great idea to keep people interested in the car, Chevy and the Camaro could learn from this and release it earlier

I agree the nationalist stuff does go too far some times. This is a free-market economy after all and I'm sure Chrysler has good reasons for assembling in Canada, whether it be cost, quality or both. And with parts and supplies coming mostly from overseas, there really is no such thing as an Amrican car anyway. Best of all, if the Challenger tanks, we'll just BLAME CANADA (South Park).

I don't see the big deal with it being built in Canada, a lot of our products are built there. The plant where the Impala/MC etc. are built is always ranked #1 or at least somewhere near the top. So its true, its Built in Canada, just not designed or engineered, unless your a Texan, than apparently anything above the Red River is Canada. Besides the domestic manufactures for as many plants as they have closed still have far more operating inside the US than anywhere else. Be happy its being built by quality workers.

Oh, and for all of you mental giants, did it occur to you that the release date is 356 days from the date of the announcement? And perhaps chrysler chose to build the Challenger in Canada because most American assembly plant workers couldn't find their ass with both hands, let alone actually build a car.

Would you prefer it to be made in Mexico? Most Canadian assembly plants for all manufacturers rate equal to or above their counterparts elsewhere, including Honda and Toyota. The Brampton plant all ready makes the 300, etc. With ther Challenger being on the same platform, it makes perfect sense to use that line.

I think when the dust settles the mustang will still be king. This car is really nice but it'll be too expensive and probably handle like complete crap. It has no chance to beat the mustang in sales which is why its not even trying. The Camaro will handle great thanks to the Australian platform, and have plenty of power, but price will be an issue. They'll have the bragging rights but in the end it doesnt matter if people cant afford it.

I think Ford nailed it with the mustang design. Its gonna be hard to take the crown from them. Its at a price/performance/looks sweet spot. A compromise between all 3.

Honestly, I like the looks of the upcoming Dodge Challenger much better than I like the upcoming Camaro.

But it'll be the quality of the interior, performance, and handling that'll do the final persuading.

Its a great car (I'd love to drive one where no-one could see,) but why are they building it in Canada? Despite the protests from the loyal most of us would accept that the US manufacturers products are not the equal of their Japanese-based competition. Presumably national pride is one reason why they still sell as many as they do.

It seems a really bad move to give foreign workers the job of building a halo model while the Japanese competition employ more and more Americans and emphasise that decision by running in American racing series.

yeah, we do a lot of dirty work for Toyota... Honda and Nissan as well... and any other maker that's designed somewhere else but has manufacturing plants here... If we didn't design it, then we're just turning the wrenches to put it together...

@Chauncy - Okay, it was designed in America, but what's with this Canada doing our dirty work stuff?? Does that mean we're doing Toyota's drity work?

@chevy490 - why the pointless inflammatory posts?

It sounds like you both need Free Hugs to me. ;-)

vroom...if there were anything funny about the previous rants about the day "error", then I wouldn't have touched it. Those 'tards were serious!! (maybe not, but it sure reads that way)

Maybe a Canadian year is only 356 days due to the exchange rate. Or, maybe 9 days lost to a drunken stupor! There. Ha Ha.

Hope the mustang beats the camaro back to its death

i hope the pony wars start all over again so we can drive something that dont need to be revved to a million rpm just to get moving. does anybody remember torque? i want to see mustangs, camaros, challengers and chargers laying smokey burnouts all over town.i want a car that actually slows down with a fury when my foot is lifted off the gas, i want to mash the gas pedal and just hold on while the car rumbles and white smoke bellows from the fender wells. i dream of a world where a man can drive what he wants free of intolerance and hatred.

p.s. the camaro will be designed in australia. The HOLDEN sorry Pontiac G8 weigh over two tons which is way more then the dodge Charger or any LX car. So don't be surprised if you hear that the challenger is lighter then the Camaro.

This car is way better looking then the camaro. Remember the fugly bright orange(Which is also the colour of the challlenger concept) convertible at detroit which looked like someone puked on the floor. Anycar can look good in silver hell even the Chrysler Airflite. the challeneger will look beautiful in silver and prity much any colour.

NOS2006 & bb.454, think about how i feel im barley 32, i have long hair past my ass, a goatee past my chest, all scared up from fighting my way out of the ghetto (my parents were drug addits on welfare) listen to deathmetal/grindcore and vote republican( for now until the democrats stop trying to take my guns)I in no way shape of form fit the cadillac crowd, but its stereotype says i should be 65 peeking over the steering wheel driving 35mph in the fast lane. i really really do love the new camaro with a passion, the lines are going to be the selling point for me, the challenger is definately a nice car but there is something about it that looks like it still could be sold in the 70`s. the camaro at least looks like a futuristic rendition of a classic whereas the challenger just looks like a classic.

For those of you complaining about the Challenger being too much like the old one as opposed to an evolved retro design. Let's not forget that this is a low volume special edition, where as the Camaro is being built to compete with the Mustang. Based on that information I would say that the Challenger will probably be more expensive too. This is kind of inbetween the Silver Slugger (http://www.popularhotrodding.com/features/0504phr_1967_ford_mustang_gt_r_code/) and the new retro vehicles.

i really dont have any preferance between the three muscle comebacks, each of their stylings is so completely different, yet all tasteful echos of the past, that id be more than happy with any of them.. i really cant decide. I guess id take the camaro, you know, with its 100,000mi warranty and all :)
