In order to celebrate securing a huge new co-primary sponsorship with Monster Energy, Gittin threw a VIP bash at Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory in Los Angeles – and Leftlane was there. Amongst the attendees were a pack of Monster girls, a pair of Falken girls, a celebrity or two – and of course, Gittin’s new Monster sponsored 2011 5.0-powered competition Mustang GT.
As some of you may recall, Leftlane was lucky enough to be invited to a Formula Drift event at Toyota Motor Speedway in Irwindale, California, last year. While at the event we got to talk tires and cars with pro-drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr., and as a result, managed to make our way onto the invite list for Gittin’s new competition car reveal in Los Angeles.
Gittin’s previous car was based on a 2010 Mustang GT, and like the rest of the Falken sponsored cars, sported a teal and blue paint scheme. For 2011, the blue and teal are gone – replaced with carbon fiber, Monster Energy lime green and white – as Gittin has now joined forces with Monster Energy to unleash an all-new 680 horsepower 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 competition car.
“Vaughn’s talent, passion, and drive make him one of the most unique and charismatic personalities in all of Drifting,” said Mike Vicente, Monster Energy. “For these reasons, Vaughn is a perfect ambassador to help Monster Energy make an immediate impact on the sport. Vaughn goes above and beyond by pushing the limits of traditional sponsorship by creating unique concepts and programs, yet still retaining his grassroots connection to the sport.”

Gittin’s new sponsor will certainly bring a healthy dose of attention to the Formula Drift series, and drifting sport in general with the American audience. It will also help Gittin be sure to show up to the track healthily prepared by some serious funding. Of course, being amped up on Monster might help Gittin drift his way all the way to the podium, too, but that we will have to wait and see for ourselves – literally.
As for the reveal itself, Gittin, Monster, Falken Tires and the folks at the Fantasy Factory pulled out all the stops to make sure the new race car was well received – and yes, the Monster girls look that good in person. Now, Leftlane will be heading to the Long Beach Grand Prix track this Saturday to watch this new competition car take to the track during a competition for the first time ever – if you haven’t been to a Formula Drift event before and have some free time this Saturday (and are in the Long Beach area) – we highly recommend checking it out.
