Real life 2007 G35 Sedan photos

06/22/2006, 8:31 AM

Seeing ‘real-life’ photos of a car is always a little different from studio shots. And if you’re like us, there’s nothing better than seeing a new car in glossy black. This week, ‘Q. Knight’ at the G35Driver forums snapped some real-life shots of the 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan. [Thanks to g35dreamer for the tip!] See all the images after the jump…

At least the interior is getting a little more mature. The last G35 looked and felt super cheap inside.

Yes.. it’s a great looking car. The mat finish on the wood is rather unique looking. I would still maintain that Infinity is luxury-lite, however.

I feel the whole Infiniti brand is luxury-lite. I say that because I really don’t feel Infiniti, like many other “luxury” brands, embodies what true luxury has come to be. Luxury is defined by something expensive or hard to obtain; extravagance. In addition, luxury should also embody those things that not every car has; pioneering technologies. Once upon a time a 32v V8 engine was pioneering. Now… not so much. Once upon a time a wood steering wheel was big time luxury. Now, it’s pretty common place. True luxury are vehicles that continually present the buying public with the “latest & greatest” (ie – adaptive cruise control, self directing headlights, 7, 8 speed transmissions, infrared vision systems… etc, etc, etc..) Infiniti, although very nice, stocks their vehichles with what’s available to the rest of the automotive world. They’re not working to bring to the forefront anything new, exciting and luxurious.

I disagree that luxury is something “expensive or hard to obtain”, cause I can sell you a POS Pinto, mark it up 10,000% and sell it to you. Now it will be expensive, and since there aren’t many of them, hard to obtain.

I don’t know for sure, but I think the reason for the wood looking like that is because it’s real! Left a bit unpolished, like on some furniture. I think that’s pretty cool!

more of en evolution then a redesign. i think that may hurt them like it did with Ford and the Focus. though this is a much better looking car.

is it me or does it look alot bigger then the current car?

Beautiful car. Interior is more in line with the M and FX series and my only exterior concern, the integrated chrome lip spoiler seems, well, nicely integrated. The overall look has moved from conservative to aggressive. Good for Infiniti.

06/22, 11:17 AM

Yet, despite moving from conservative to aggressive… it now has, in my opinion, joined the ranks of “some car”. The BMW has it’s name and reputation to go along, but now we’ve got the bmw, the lexus, and now the infinity, which all put forth a very similar argument, and hence lose of their individuality.

Am I just ranting on or am I crazy?

That wood is very nice. Looks a bit like the Cherry wood used in current gen Range Rovers. If it is nice and thick then it should look very nice in person.

Chris needs to really take a look at the Infiniti brand. They have been utilizing new technology in their cars for some time now, includng rear view cameras, lane departure systems, adaptive headlights, ventilated seats, etc. The difference is that they can bring these features to cars that truly stand out from their fellow Asian counterparts and do it at a great price point. They are leading with design, such as the FX, which got weird stares when it first came out, but now is being copied by everyone (Mazda CX-7 for one). Also, buyers are learning that “just enough luxury” is favorable over “so much luxury that I can’t enjoy it (iDrive) or it’s always in the shop (M-B)”. Way to go Infiniti, love the new G sedan!

Where did these pics come from? This car isn’t in showrooms yet is it?

As far as I know the final specs for the car haven’t even been released yet? 27: “300+ bhp” … that’s as much as I’ve been able to find. (though I imagine it must be at least 315 or so to beat the IS350’s count…)

So, does anyone have any info on the G35? And more importantly, the G35 coupe? I’ve always thought the G35 sedan was ugly, esp compared to the IS350, but the coupe is one of the sexiest cars around.

I really want some info on the next gen coupe…I’m considering getting one.

Commet 28 right on point. Infiniti is up there with technology. Their sound system has freaking speakers in the seat. They have the lane departure systems, adaptive headlights, and all the other crap the other cars have. Yea their transmition is a 5 speed but its a smart 5 speed which down shift according to speeds. Anyway it will also have 100 better reliability than CTS, 3-series, C350, except probably IS.

I just love that they put the black tape over all the Infiniti badges. lol. Why would they do that? They’ve already released photos of the car, and there is clearly no mistaking that its the new Infiniti G35 Sedan. Kinda funny.

Anyway, I think it looks fantastic. Leagues ahead of the last sedan as far as styling goes. Should be a much better competitor for the 3-series sedan. I’ve been a big fan of Infiniti since I purchased my first Q45 back in 1991, and my second Q45 in 1995. The 95 model was a fantastic car, with incredible reliability. It was very fast, very sporty, and very comfortable– classy and cool. It has been very interesting watching them become so much more refined over the past 10 years. The exterior styling is absolutley beautiful- sleek, sporty, and elegant. And the interior styling is excellent too. The real unfinished wood is a very nice touch, and the analog clock- an Infiniti trademark that they’ve been doing since before I bought my first one- is, as always, a classy touch. The leather is nice and it looks like it will have a lot of nice features, including the paddle shifters!

I can’t wait for the coupe to come out, as it will probably be my next car.

One more thing…Infiniti’s are typically just a little bigger than each of their competitors. For someone like myself who is 6′4″, a GS300 is out of the question, but an M35 is just right. Then there’s the Lexus IS, which no one amywhere near 6′0″ could ever get into, and anything larger than a kid (but not in a car seat) sit behind them. You’re all laughing but this is a big deal for those that have a few extra inches on them (I’m talking about height).

But…why don’t they sell then (or only with artificial incentives), whereas Japanese cars do? Nissan has obviously used building a standalone GT-R sportscar as an excuse to make the Skyline/G35 range larger and less sport oriented.

Funny but I thought even luxury Skylines were meant to both represent sportiness and *also* deliver the bacon. I hope the new one still delivers good numbers.

Times and values have changed I guess.

Why some of you are jumping a boat on Infitini. Look at BMW 3-series. The 06 and 05 models look different enought to tell them apart at same time they look so much alike. Same with infitini G35, they were successful with the original G35 so they did not have to change the main proportions of the original car, but change the curves on it. I think its a great looking car. Yes Lexus IS is much more dramatic change, because they had to do it. The old IS was just a badged up toyota. So leave Infiniti alone, they are making excellent driving machines and at a good price.

good looking car, but eminently forgettable. I honestly think that in 20 years, the most distinctive infiniti of recent years will be the previous M45. The current M45 is decent to look at and a better car than the previous m45, but I really thought that first m45 was really special and not just another jellybean in the looks department. But then , I do drive a Lincoln Ls and think that the previous 7-series was a really really hot car.

When i saw the 2007 pics, i fell in love, and will be getting one instead of the 330. Now that’s fine for all you Floridains, Texans, and Californians, with your smooth roads and all, but in the northern states, they don’t make the cut. I’m guessing they recognized that and are changing they suspension around for 07…we’ll see.

I’ve been driving a G35 for a couple years now and even though I’m totally satisfied with it in every way I’ve read enough about this new one to see that it will be almost revolutionary. What with the beefed up block and twin intakes it’s clear that this will be the twin turbo engine of the up coming GT-R. I’m going to guess that even without turbos this engine will be rated at 350hp by 2010 and that is when I’ll be trading in my beloved ‘05 on one!
Keep your American retro big iron this is one sweet ride!
