Rebodied Corvette up for auction (video, photos)

04/06/2006, 7:48 AM

By admin

A rebodied Corvette build by a team of former Ford Engineers will be auctioned later this year, the group said. Called the “GDT Speedster,” the car was built on the underpinnings of a 1994 C4 Corvette. It was built by a team of self-described car fanatics that “wanted to do a complete vehicle from scratch without the bureaucratic encumbrances of a large corporation.” The projected was started by Gene Dickirson, thus the name GDT (Gene Dickirson Team). Dickirson said the team devoted a total of 13,127 hours to the project.

I guess it takes alot of time to create something so ugly. Took an American icon and made it into a civic.

They couldn’t find a better way to use 13,127 hours? Thats 545 full days! You could build a REAL car in that amount of time!

Though, I’ll admit it looks better in the video than it does in the photos.

Yes, this is what happens when you let engineers design a car exterior.

I hope it comes with all the stock parts so whoever wins it can put it back to stock. Im sorry and i do think its neat when people customize stuff but man, that thing just sucks.

They should have spent 13,128 hours. During the last hour they could have rammed it into a brick building at 80 and made it look better.

13,000 hours for that 1980’s-looking, ultra-cheesy, Knight-Rider, Can-Am looking thing?? OMG, I think the fact that their PR/Marketing Department would actually release this story and pics to the public clearly demonstrates their utter and core Ignorance. This is the best example yet of why they are failing, although I seem to be saying that with regularity these days…sorry for the harshness but at least claim only 1000 hours or something.
